The year 2024 could be a big year for “The Walking Dead.” At least that’s what a trailer from AMC suggests, announcing upcoming projects for this year.
What was announced? The American media company AMC Networks uploaded a short trailer on its Instagram profile, which is supposed to give you a little taste of the upcoming movies and series for 2024.
They promise that this is going to be an unforgettable year for AMC+ and shows clips from “Monsieur Spade,” “Orphan Black: Echoes,’ and “Interview with a Vampire.”
Above all, fans of The Walking Dead should be quite excited about this summarizing trailer, as three spin-offs of the popular franchise have been announced for 2024:
What can fans of The Walking Dead look forward to in 2024? After 11 pretty successful seasons, the drama about a zombie apocalypse ended in October 2022. Nevertheless, the universe created for this series still lives on a little bit longer.
With, for example, successful games or comics, fans of the franchise can still enjoy more zombie action. But there are also a number of spin-off series related to different characters, which are either already available or will debut this year.
3 spin-offs bring back 4 beloved characters to the franchise
As the trailer announces, we can expect three spin-offs in 2024:
- The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
- The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – Season 2
- The Walking Dead: The Book of Carol
Where the latter is itself a small sequel to Daryl Dixon. So it’s a spin-off of the spin-off. Melissa McBride’s character is among the most loved ones in the original series. Many fans can therefore look forward to this spin-off.
The second season of Daryl Dixon is said to be of similar quality to season 1. That sounds promising, as the first season was praised by critics for its fresh approach.
However, fans will likely find The Ones Who Live interesting as well, because in this spin-off, you will see some returning characters from the original series. Rick Grimes and Michonne find their way back to the franchise in this spin-off. Especially Rick had long been at the core of the series. Allowing this character to return for a spin-off could mean a lot.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is also set to premiere on February 25, 2024.
And even though the images shown in the trailer don’t contain many new bits of information, they do show that the zombie franchise will be quite present this year.
