In a new update, the developers of Skull & Bones reflect on 2018 and look ahead to 2019. The focus of the post about the video is the game’s background story.
This is discussed in the video: The video update from December 2018 primarily highlights the community’s feedback on Skull & Bones. They are especially thrilled by how well the pre-alpha demo of Skull & Bones has been received by the audience, according to Ubisoft. This demo was shown at E3 and Gamescom.
The various gameplay videos thrilled the community. Following the feedback, the developers have particularly advanced their work on gameplay and “Hunting Grounds.”
What does Skull & Bones want to become in 2019?
This is planned for 2019: In the video, the developers promise that there is much more to show. They can hardly wait to prove to the players how far the development of Skull & Bones has already progressed.
2019 will be “even more exciting.”
This is the background to the game
This is the story of Skull & Bones: In a companion blog post to the video, Ubisoft illuminates the background to Skull & Bones. Apparently, we will be dealing with a historically influenced setting.
The post provides a brief overview of the history of piracy:
- September 1717: Piracy is at its peak. The Caribbean is almost entirely dominated by pirates. Names like Blackbeard and Captain Morgan are well-known everywhere. Soon after, the British king offers a “Pardon” for all pirates who surrender.
- December 1717: The famous “King’s Pardon” has prompted over 200 pirates to surrender. All others are ruthlessly hunted down and destroyed by the British fleet. Some of the ex-pirates become bounty hunters.
- November 22, 1718: Captain Blackbeard is confronted by the British fleet and allegedly killed. Piracy is nearing its end.
- 1720: Anne Bonny and Calico Jack, known as Jack Rackham, are captured and hanged. The pirates of the Caribbean are gone.
Your story in Skull & Bones begins here. After the Caribbean has been “cleaned up”, some of the surviving pirates flee to the Indian Ocean. This is where Skull & Bones takes place.
This is what Skull & Bones will offer: The focus of Skull & Bones is on naval battles with various sailing ships that have special abilities and almost function like classes. More content will always be provided, so that Skull & Bones does not end up like Sea of Thieves.
Our author Jürgen has already played Skull & Bones and thinks it’s great:
