Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a co-op game for Steam, PS5, and Xbox. Although it was released back in 2018, Vermintide 2 currently has tens of thousands of players on Steam. The reason is a strong sale that you can still take advantage of for a short time.
What kind of game is this?
- You can roughly imagine Vermintide 2 as Left 4 Dead in the world of Warhammer: 4 characters navigate through levels and fight against Skaven and Chaos Cultists.
- There are 5 heroes to choose from, each with different specializations that you can equip and level up. This way, you become stronger and can tackle tougher difficulties.
- Over the years, Vermintide 2 has received new content, such as a new type of enemy, as well as events and other content.

Recent reviews are at 77% and are therefore “mostly positive” – and lower than the reviews over the entire period (84%). However, the negative reviews particularly criticize the grind, which players find too laborious.
Theoretically, you could invest hundreds of hours into the characters, leveling them up and fully equipping each “career”, i.e., class. At its core, it’s mainly about taking down some Skaven, Chaos worshippers, and Beastmen with three friends.
Gameplay is at the forefront in Vermintide 2. You fight against “normal” enemies but also against elite foes, mini-bosses, and even real boss arenas in specific missions. Particularly at higher difficulties, you need to coordinate well.
Compared to Left 4 Dead, Vermintide 2 focuses more on melee combat, thus you are much closer to the action. Ammunition is heavily limited, and most classes will pummel enemies with axes, hammers, and swords.
