The 20-year-old Cody “Clix” Conrad is one of the most successful Twitch streamers of Fortnite. But the money and success don’t seem to be doing him any good. Now he insulted all supporters who contribute a little money to him with a regular subscription on Twitch during a stream. He says he doesn’t thank such people, as it would be a waste of his breath. On X, people are discussing whether the 20-year-old is serious about his statement or just trying to provoke.
This is how Clix insulted a fan: In a Twitch stream, Clix received a 4-month subscription from a supporter, “NotMarkX”. The person had subscribed to him for 5 $ for 40 months. This person has spent about 185 € over more than 3 years to support Clix. A clip of this stream went live on X on March 27.
Attached to the subscription was Mark’s question: “Hey Clix, I heard you don’t thank fans who donate less than 100 $. Is that true?”
Clix replied:
Hey Mark. I don’t give a damn about your 40 months. So Mark, seriously: Don’t subscribe to me for 40 months if you expect me to say something. If you want me to thank you for your damn subscription, at least give me Tier 2 or Tier 3, because Tier 1 is simply a waste of my breath. I’m not going to waste my breath on a Tier 1 like you.
Then he took a breath and rudely insulted Mark as a “damn piece of shit.”
This is the background to the statement: Mark refers in his question, “he heard that Clix only thanks from 100 $” to a tweet from March 26, which Clix responded to.
Here Clix sounded reasonable. He is quoted in a tweet saying: 5 $ a month is a lot of money, but he cannot thank everyone, that would be too much work. He focuses on large donations.
Targeted Provocation or Does He Really Think So?
This is how it’s being discussed: A tweet with these statements from Clix went online on March 27 and is being hotly debated.
The open question is,
- whether Clix really means it
- or whether he is “farming clips” here, as some suspect, meaning he is deliberately expressing himself in such a stupid and arrogant manner to gain attention.
- Especially since the user “NotMarkX” apparently is a moderator of Clix. Therefore, it is likely that there is a strange staging going on here. Mark seems to have deliberately triggered a template for harsh words from Clix with his question.
However, Clix has acted so strangely in the past that it’s not unlikely he could have meant this statement seriously. Clix fits the image of a young gamer whose success in Fortnite has gone to his head. He bought himself a Lamborghini and sought closeness to Andrew Tate.
