After the first beta weekend of TERA on PS4 and Xbox One, publisher EnMasse invited players to another, shorter test phase of the action MMORPG. We reached out to the community again to gather reactions to the 2nd Beta of TERA on PS4 and Xbox One.
After many players complained about bugs, crashes, and menus closing on their own during the first beta weekend of TERA on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, publisher EnMasse wanted to improve things with a second, shorter test phase.
The player feedback was taken to heart, and some improvements were implemented for the second test:
- Additional channels were introduced for almost all zones, which can be changed by pressing the menu and triangle or Y buttons
- The menus should no longer close on their own
- The disappearance of the name display has been fixed

On PS4: Cool
Indeed, many players were able to make better use of the second beta test, which lasted from Friday, March 16 at 2:00 PM our time until March 18 at 5:00 AM. The improved performance, which allowed for almost seamless gameplay, was praised.
PS4 players apparently had very few lags and bugs to complain about, and crashes were rare. The only issue that testers still encountered was pop-ins, the delayed loading of textures.
Many players praise the console adaptation and are happy to be able to play the game, which many know from PC, now on their PlayStation 4. Especially the combat flows smoothly – even though some wonder how they are supposed to chat in an MMORPG on PS4.

On Xbox One: Some See Weaknesses
According to some testers, the situation is somewhat different on Microsoft’s consoles. Both standard Xbox One owners and Xbox One X players criticized lags and frame rate drops, which were reportedly worse than during the first open beta. Others were able to play without problems.
Both on Reddit and in the official forum, some Xbox players complain about significantly worse performance. The Xbox One X player M6LADMG4R3 reports in the EnMasse forum about lags, even in less populated channels.
User SilensPhoenix also reports his problems. However, the tester takes it with humor and says that at least he no longer experienced crashes.
Beta Overall Makes a Good Impression – Some Demand Release
Overall, the beta is received much better by players than the last one. Some are already demanding the imminent release. They say: Other games like Skyforge or The Elder Scrolls Online were also not technically superior at their console launch.
