In the community of WoW Classic, there seem to be some black sheep. A player recounts his experience where a group kicked him from a dungeon in Wrath of the Lich King, apparently to secure the loot for themselves. However, that didn’t work out.
This is the story: The reddit user HawksNStuff shares that he was searching for a group for heroic dungeons with his fresh level 80 rogue. He eventually landed in the clearing of Stratholme (“HdZ 4”), one of the new dungeons of WotLK.
As he explains, the tank and two of the DPS players were in the same guild. Only HawksNStuff himself and the healer were outsiders. The goal was the coveted dragon that can be obtained in the dungeon if completed quickly enough.
In WotLK Classic, there are ongoing discussions about some players only demanding the best equipment from their teammates. However, the user explains that the whole group was well-equipped and could have easily completed the run.
The rush for WotLK Classic was enormous. Many veterans and new players wanted to go to Northrend. It looked so crazy on the first ship to the new continent:
However, several wipes occurred, during which, according to HawksNStuff, the other DPS players as well as the tank made mistakes and eventually died. Through some tricks, the run was still successful. Nevertheless, the tank repeatedly insulted his teammates.
At the end of the dungeon, he and the healer were removed from the group with the words: “F*** you, losers,” before they could open the chest waiting there. The other 3 players apparently wanted to exclude them from the loot.
How did the players get the loot? The game itself calculates during a fight who is eligible to receive loot and who is not. Since the players were still in the dungeon, they were allowed to roll on the items contained.
HawksNStuff and the healer coordinated to roll need on every item. They received everything that was there – including a shield, which is among the best items for tanks well into the expansion and considered one of the most beautiful in the game: the King’s Seal of Lordaeron. The rogue then simply sold the shield to a vendor for a few gold pieces while the tank raged.

The community on reddit reacts extremely positively. Within a few hours, the thread received over 5,400 upvotes and hundreds of comments. The users openly show schadenfreude as they condemn such behavior like that of the tank and his friends.
Others can’t understand why someone would behave like that – especially in such a situation:
Imagine making such a fuss over a mount that everyone gets along the way simply by running through the dungeon. Jesus, people are strange!
A few even accuse the thread creator of being the villain in the story. He responds: “How? They knew from the start that they were going to cheat us. Not just for the loot, but also for the heroic item for the daily.”
While he cannot prove anything more because he did not take screenshots, the story still generates a great discussion. Especially elitist players, who forgive their teammates no mistakes, have been a thorn in the community’s side for weeks:
