This week we introduced the alpha plans for the German MMOs Teredor and Kreuzer, Krone and Kabale. We also shared new information about the upcoming updates in WoW and FFXIV as well as an overly strong class in Lost Ark.
Highlights of the week:
- Teredor is a new MMORPG from Germany that will be free to play but completely foregoes a shop. The alpha starts on July 1.
- With Kreuzer, Krone and Kabale, a German indie studio is working on a new MMO that focuses on politics, economy, and intrigue. The alpha will start sometime in the summer.
- Perfect New World has launched its beta on Steam, which actually has an NDA. But players still talked about it and paint a mixed picture.
The discussion of the week: An MMORPG excited us in the trailer with its strong combat system. What do you think of Chrono Odyssey? Feel free to write it in the comments.
New updates from WoW and FFXIV excite, Throne and Liberty delays release
This is what happened with the major MMORPGs:
- WoW has announced the next patch 10.1.5 and it is huge. Among other things, dragon riding will be brought to the whole world. Our WoW demon Cortyn complained about the new equipment system.
- Black Desert is still so beautiful years after release that the tourism board from Korea uses it for a promotional video.
- The new class Slayer has appeared in Lost Ark and it is way too strong.
- Final Fantasy XIV held a new live letter, in which further details about the upcoming patch 6.4 and the release date on May 23 were announced (via FFXIV).
- ESO has released a new trailer for the areas of the Necrom expansion. You can watch it directly here:
This is what happened with the smaller MMORPGs:
- Albion Online receives a major update and now offers players a completely new control scheme.
- Odin Valhalla Rising is an MMORPG we have been waiting for years and it is a huge success in Korea.
- In the American version of Aion Classic, the completely new class Revenant was released, which never existed in normal Aion (via MassivelyOP).
- The VR MMORPG Zenith has released a new class and a new area (via MassivelyOP).
This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- Throne and Liberty has officially postponed its release. The reasons are time for optimizations, testing of monetization, and marketing.
- Project XT is a new MMORPG that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and looks like a twisted Marvel game.
- Monsters & Memories held a stress test at the end of April. Now we know: Over 3,000 players registered, at peak more than 1,000 were online simultaneously (via Monstersandmemories).
- Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen postponed its next alpha test to May 20 (via MassivelyOP).
