The new MMORPG New World from Amazon shouldn’t technically be seen by anyone yet. Because it is in Alpha under an NDA. Nevertheless, gameplay has now surfaced.
What kind of gameplay is this? Apparently, an Alpha tester of New World broke the NDA and uploaded two hours of gameplay footage on Pornhub. The original two-hour video can be found here in a Google Drive.
A YouTuber “Less than Epic” discovered the video and presented a 9-minute compilation. We want to show you the compilation here:
First insights from the gameplay:
In the video, one can see a mix of “realism and fantasy” – a settler first hunts a bison with a bow and arrow, which does not attack him. The buffalo can absorb several arrows and tries to flee. Then, a kind of zombie, “The Withered,” attacks the settler. The undead is taken care of after 3 shots.
When leveling up, at least during this level-up, you can distribute 3 attribute points and 1 trade skill point.
The crafting system is said to play an important role in New World. This is the “survival” aspect of the MMORPG. There seem to be different tiers of resources, and the whole crafting is taken seriously, which can be seen in the first images.
You need workbenches to craft the individual items: such as blacksmiths, tanning stations, and so on.
The combat system is an action combat system. It is not only important which items you carry but also how you move and aim.
The gathering system is based on a survival game. You can collect all sorts of things in the game using the familiar mechanics.
It seems that there are guilds in New World.
This is what the leak tells us: The leak primarily confirms everything we already knew. There are no major surprises or innovations to be seen. The game seems to function like, for instance, Conan Exiles.
New World is supposed to become a survival sandbox MMORPG. The game wants to shine with its “size” and “depth” – both of which cannot yet be seen in such a leak. The gameplay is actually exactly what one could have expected up to now. The first hours in New World seem similar to those in a typical “survival MMO”.
What makes New World appealing, we have described here:
