In the latest patch of Overwatch , several heroes have been adjusted. However, two others have received undocumented changes that have significant impacts. Players have recently discovered this.
Which heroes have been adjusted? Both the healer Mercy and the DPS hero Torbjörn seem to have received hidden changes. This was discovered by attentive user Lighting_Laxus on reddit.
He suspects that these changes came with the latest patch, which also brought a Bastion event. However, it is also possible that they have existed for longer. They were just never mentioned.
Secret Changes in Overwatch
This is how Mercy got nerfed: Mercy experienced a major nerf to her damage-boost mechanics. With her alternate fire using the Caduceus Staff, she increases the damage of allied heroes.
If a boosted hero deals damage, Mercy receives 30% of the damage dealt to charge her ultimate “Valkyrie.” This applied even if the enemy heroes died immediately, for example, from a headshot by Widowmaker or from falling.
If Mercy, for example, boosted Lúcio while he was pushing a Roadhog off a cliff, she received 30% of Roadhog’s health points onto her ulti-meter. According to Lighting_Laxus, this no longer works.
This is how Torbjörn got buffed: Things look different for Torbjörn. Apparently, his ultimate “Melted Core” has become stronger, distributing large puddles of melted slag since his rework.
As a small gimmick, the slag inflicts increased damage on opponents’ armor – a total of 190 DPS so far. This damage has apparently been increased to a solid 250 DPS, and that, despite the fact that tanks already have a hard time.
Lighting_Laxus suspects that this is related to the armor overhaul. Armor is no longer supposed to reduce damage over time to prevent certain effects from dealing no damage at all.
For Torbjörn, this seemingly resulted in a hefty buff – and for a blind streamer in some great moments:
