Two indie games go online at the same time under the same name on Steam. When the developers notice the name duplication, they decide to collaborate.
What kind of games are they? On March 11 and 13, 2026, two new indie games hit the Steam market. Both are called Piece by Piece, but they differ entirely in gameplay.
In Piece by Piece, the life simulation game by Gamkat/No More Robots, you play as a little fox moving to a new town in the woods. Here, you set up a shop that repairs the broken items of the residents, such as lamps or plates. You must carefully piece the items back together.
In Piece by Piece, the puzzle game by Neon Polygons, you need to assemble levels first with the help of puzzle pieces to be able to play them. Then you run through the levels with your character, collect items, and fight enemies. The game features a cute pixel art style.
- By the way: Both games are celebrating their release with a discount on their already low price. In Piece by Piece, the life simulation, you can save 20% on Steam and pay only 7.99 euros. And in Piece by Piece, the puzzle game, you save 15% on Steam and only have to pay 10.87 euros.
Situation ends well when you behave like a human
How are the developers collaborating? The developers noticed that they had released two games with the same name. But instead of fighting legally or similar, they worked together. They created a Steam bundle with their two games: Piece by Piece Double
on Steam includes both games and costs 20.50 euros or currently only 16.97 euros with a 17% discount.
On Reddit, Chase_P, one of the developers of Neon Polygons, wrote the following about the initiative:
All of this came together within just a few weeks. We practically announced our release dates simultaneously – two days apart … and under the same title.
I saw that they were released by No More Robots […] and thought we had nothing to lose if we just asked. Mike Rose from No More Robots didn’t hesitate for a second: “That sounds like fun,” was his reply, and man, I’m glad we did that. It was such a positive week, and I am grateful for people and companies with values like the teams at Gamkat and No More Robots.

No More Robots also commented on Reddit and wrote: It’s crazy to believe that a situation could turn out well if you behave like a human, right? Who would have thought?
Moreover, the puzzle game Piece by Piece seems to already be a big success. Chase_P wrote on Reddit that he had already earned back the money he had previously invested in the game within the first 24 hours. The joint initiative seemed to pay off not only in a human sense but also financially.
While these two indie games are already celebrating their release, another one is more or less on the starting blocks. The trailer surprised the community with an unusual twist at the end: New game on Steam looks like a “mix of Animal Crossing, Minecraft and Peaky Blinders”, hopefully just as crazy as it sounds
