We present to you 18 titles of games that have been poorly translated into German by translation machines (or by us). Can you recognize them all?
Machine translations are practical and quite good nowadays – at least most of the time. Again and again, you come across texts online that clearly show they were translated from another language by a poor algorithm.
Especially as a games journalist, you often stumble upon such cases. During my research on the 30 most successful gaming franchises in the world, I noticed several of these bad translations.
With some games, I had difficulty even recognizing at first glance what they were supposed to be. So I thought: I’ll ask the clever readers of MeinMMO if they feel just as clueless about the titles.
Title Quiz – Can you recognize the titles in German?
What kind of titles are these? The titles are all games that are somewhat known worldwide or at least in the West and Germany. This includes big blockbusters but also one or two older games and niche games. There are games for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, mobile, and more.
Here are some lists that might help you recognize one or the other title:

- The best strategy games for PC with multiplayer
The titles are chosen so that you should be able to figure out some of them with a little thought – others might be more difficult, especially if you don’t know the game itself. Most should explain themselves.
For the translations, I took some machine translations from random websites, as well as conjured up some of my own. Have fun!
