At just 17 years old, Fibi “Fibii” Pfeiffer is already one of the biggest German-speaking streamers on Twitch. But now it seems she has doubts about her career.
What has Fibii achieved so far? At 16, Fibii was already one of the biggest German-speaking streamers in 2022 and had one of the fastest-growing channels on Twitch. She left school after 10th grade and has been streaming full-time since then.
Almost 600,000 people follow the streamer on Twitch. She is also regularly involved in cool events and has her own jewelry line. So she is probably living the dream of many of her younger fans.
But now the 17-year-old seems to be struggling with her career decision.
Fibii’s Twitch colleague LetsHugo also chose a career as a content creator instead of a school path:
Streamer is not proud of her career
What does the streamer say about her career now? In a recent livestream, Fibii explained that she actually has no desire to be an influencer. It’s not something to be proud of, the 17-year-old said:
We influencers really haven’t achieved anything in life. One should be proud of an education, one should be proud of a real job. […] We are just the entertainers. We are just the people who take away boredom, that’s all we are.
Fibii explains that she feels like she isn’t contributing anything to society, although it is actually important to her to help people: “It can’t be that I wanted to be a federal police officer and now I’m an influencer who does nothing but earn money.”
The Twitch streamer was recently criticized by her doctor for her career choice. It seems this hit a nerve with the 17-year-old.
Fibii reports that she has felt like she truly helped someone only once. A viewer wrote to her that she had a serious illness and that the streamer’s content had helped her a lot during that time.
The situation of Fibii differs from that of some of her colleagues on Twitch. They partly grew up in a time before a career as an influencer was achievable and first worked in a “normal” job. Now they appreciate even more being paid for gaming:
