The 16-year-old British Thomas “TommyInnit” Simons is currently dominating the Twitch charts. He has attracted more simultaneous viewers than any other streamer.
Who is TommyInnit? The streamer primarily showcases Minecraft on YouTube and Twitch. Over the past weeks and months, his channels have grown incredibly quickly. He is currently one of the Twitch streamers with the most subscribers and is significantly leading in simultaneous viewers (via sullygnome, as of January 10, 2021).
Tommy is just 16 years old and wins over audiences with his honest and somewhat childish nature. He abruptly ended a livestream when he remembered that he had a homework assignment due the next day at school.
Hundreds of thousands of viewers and $140,000 per month
TommyInnit is currently this successful: The streamer is currently experiencing an extreme high. This has built up slowly over the past months and is now reaching its peak (via sullygnome):
- In the last 7 days, he had an average of 224,690 viewers – at peak, there were even 424,048 viewers
- His streams never last longer than 2 hours – in that short time, he immediately attracts large masses of viewers
- According to TwitchTracker, he currently has 37,499 subscriptions and is thus currently ranked 5th worldwide – at times, he even had over 40,000 subscribers
Subscribers are what bring streamers a steady flow of money. A sub is supposed to bring streamers between $3.50 and $5 per month. If you multiply that by the 40,000 subs that tommyinnit had at times, then he alone comes to at least $140,000 (about €115,000) per month.
In addition, there is his YouTube channel, which is currently performing exceptionally well. TommyInnit has almost 5 million subscribers, and it’s on the rise. He just broke the 4 million subscriber mark at Christmas. His recent videos all had over 3 million views, some even over 10 million views.
Why is the streamer so successful? The streamer is young and thus primarily appeals to the similarly young Minecraft players. The young viewers can identify with him, as he often talks about his school and the stress there.
Furthermore, TommyInnit’s environment is right. He often plays with the Minecraft YouTuber Dream, who has an incredible reach. Dream has a YouTube channel with over 15 million subscribers and runs a Minecraft server where he experiences crazy things with numerous friends.
