What is Wild Terra 2? Wild Terra 2 is a sandbox MMORPG set in a large, medieval fantasy world. Instead of a linear story with matching quests, the game is more about crafting, housing, and finding your own path.
The game offers no classes, so during character creation, you can only choose between gender and a few cosmetic features.
Gameplay is in an isometric perspective, where you can move using WASD or mouse clicks. An interesting aspect is the nutrition system, which ensures that you maintain a balanced diet of grains, fish, meat, fruits, and vegetables.
What is happening in 2021 with Wild Terra 2? The MMORPG started in early access in January. It was originally planned for December 2020 but was briefly postponed.

Who is this interesting for? Those searching for a classic theme park MMORPG will not find it in Wild Terra 2. The game fully embraces sandbox and survival aspects, which also involve a lot of grind and frustration.

Final Fantasy XIV – Endwalker
What is Final Fantasy XIV? Final Fantasy XIV is a theme park MMO reminiscent of classic Japanese RPGs, primarily due to its strong focus on story. In the endgame, you can expect many challenging raids and tasks while working your way through numerous quests and story content.
Final Fantasy XIV offers everything an MMORPG heart desires:

- Challenges in the form of dungeons and raids with varying degrees of difficulty
With the Shadowbringers expansion, the MMORPG was expanded in summer 2019 to include a new race, new jobs, and a lot of story. A small downside is the somewhat outdated combat system that is rather static and slow-paced and relies on tab-targeting.
What is happening in 2021 with FFXIV? 2020 was the year between the add-ons. Accordingly, it was rather quiet around this MMORPG. However, the new expansion Endwalker will be released in the fall of 2021.
The expansion offers, in addition to the new story:
- A level increase from 80 to 90
- Two new jobs
- New areas, dungeons, and raids
- A new PvP mode
- New content such as quests for collectors, NPC companions, and changes to housing
Who is this interesting for? The new expansion primarily targets players who have been involved in FFXIV for a while. However, anyone who wants to get a feel for the MMORPG can now play the first 60 levels and areas for free.
It primarily aims at fans of PvE content, dungeons and raids, as well as a typical JRPG story.
