A community manager from Bungie has now presented a list of weapons that players are currently complaining about the most in Destiny 2. Does the selection match your experiences?
What is the list about? Destiny 2 is known for certain weapons standing out from the meta and being particularly dominant.
Whether it’s the auto rifle Hard Light, which recently dominated PvP but was nerfed, or the new exotic MG Succession, which is now in the spotlight due to “infinite ammo” – there are numerous weapon examples that spark heated debates in the community.
Bungie’s community manager dmg04 has now released a list of weapons that players keep complaining about to him. They are said to be overpowered (OP), annoying, or in need of a nerf.
Which weapons are on the list? The list includes a total of 12 weapons – 4 exotics and 8 legendary firearms. The focus of player complaints is on
- Bastion, an exotic fusion rifle
- Recall, a legendary sniper rifle and a top weapon of Season 7
- Hard Light, an exotic auto rifle
- SUROS Regime, an exotic auto rifle
- The Summoner, a legendary auto rifle from the Trials
- Notration, a legendary hand cannon from Gambit
- Dismal Promise, a legendary hand cannon
- The Pursuit of the Mindbender, a legendary shotgun from the Nightfall “The Hollow Hideaway”
- Astral Horizon, a legendary shotgun from the Trials
- Beloved, a legendary sniper rifle from the Menagerie
- Eye of Sol, a legendary sniper rifle from the Trials
- Succession, a new exotic machine gun from Season 10
According to dmg04, however, the weapons are not in any particular order.
What stands out: Essentially, almost all of these weapons excel particularly in PvP. Most complaints to Bungie apparently relate to the Crucible.
What Bungie says about the list: In addition to his list, dmg04 also noted that compared to Destiny 1, there is somewhat more variety in the weapons that players perceive as OP.
However, it still feels as if people complain along the lines of: “The weapon comes with a playstyle that I don’t know how to counter. So it must be OP”
He is also glad that it is a live game where things can be adjusted. That doesn’t mean that anything on the list will necessarily be nerfed. But things could change.

What’s next for Destiny 2? Even though this insider insight is quite interesting, Destiny 2 currently has much bigger problems to deal with than the weapon meta. Bungie has already acknowledged that they are aware many players are unhappy with the game – including our Destiny expert Sven Galitzki.
Therefore, they want to discuss important community criticisms in the coming weeks and months. They have already started with the Trials and the anti-cheat measures. Improvements of the seasons and a revision of the bounties have also been addressed.
And it will be exciting to see which issue areas Bungie will address in the coming weeks. Because whether it’s the overly dominant role of the Eververse content, lack of innovations, meager seasonal contents, or the generally few incentives to continue playing Destiny 2 as a long-term fan or veteran – there are currently enough problems and criticisms.
