Jack Hunt
The fan culture of World of Warcraft has always been colorful and creative. Particularly fruitful in the early years was the area of machinima, that is, film-like videos created in the WoW engine. They could be very short or as long as a feature film. Sometimes they told funny or dark stories; other times, they celebrated the fun of World of Warcraft with epic visuals.
Among the most important artists of this time is Jack Hunt, who collaborated with professional guilds like Nihilum, Millenium, or Method to deliver beautifully staged frontline reports from various raid instances of WoW. Highlights certainly include his later works such as the victory over Kil’jaeden or the battle against the Lich King.
On Jack Hunt’s YouTube channel, you can now also find remastered versions of his older videos from the Molten Core or Ahn’Qiraj. Fun fact: The man behind the nickname Jack Hunt works for Webedia Gaming and is thus a direct colleague of the MeinMMO crew. Greetings to you!
Well-staged videos of WoW can also be found from … Blizzard:
MadSeasonShow
Nearly 450,000 subscribers and 683 videos, including some that have generated millions of views – for several years, MadSeasonShow was one of the most popular and best YouTubers when it came to the topic of World of Warcraft.
With his calm voice, he discussed topics that were extensively debated, shared, and celebrated in parts of the community. For example, in December 2021, with his two-hour video “World of Warcraft – Pandora’s Box” (via YouTube), where he shed light on the development of the Blizzard MMORPG. The result: 2.841 million views and 102,668 thumbs up.
The fact that the 120 minutes fly by is not only due to the exciting topic but also to MadSeason’s humor and the many ideas he incorporates into the production. Many of his videos are little masterpieces.
In 2021, MadSeason took his first break from WoW. He had been playing the online role-playing game since 2005. With the Season of Discovery, he made a comeback. To this day, the artist still publishes videos about World of Warcraft on his channel. However, he has since also started covering other games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice or Escape from Tarkov.
Asmongold
Asmongold aka ZackRawrr aka Zack Hoyt has become one of the biggest streamers, YouTubers, and influencers in the gaming topic over the past 15 years – with multiple channels, millions of subscribers, and even more views on all his videos. When he positively reports on a game, player counts and sales figures noticeably rise.
For a long time, Asmongold’s videos have clearly focused on World of Warcraft. He analyzed patches, Blizzard streams, and expansions, put the WoW servers to the test with community events, organized or led raids, and drilled Game Director Ion Hazzikostas with questions.
For a while now (and after some streaming breaks), Asmongold’s program has been significantly more diverse. He has tried several WoW competitors such as Final Fantasy XIV, Lost Ark, or New World and has also been involved in beta phases like that of Pax Dei. Nevertheless, he remains loyal to WoW and comments on the new WoW cinematic, with hundreds of thousands tuning in (via YouTube).
