More than just a campsite
During your adventure, you will build a new camp for the Gray Mane clan, which will grow and thrive through your progress and resource donations. There you will find, among other things, a bed, a fireplace, merchants, and quest givers. Eventually, you can also create a field and farm or keep livestock such as pigs and cows.
Moreover, by expanding the camp, you will gain access to your own house, which you can furnish with furniture and decorative accessories. How extensive and elaborate housing in Crimson Desert will ultimately be remains unclear for now.
Some members of your clan can even be sent on NPC missions. These can be protection assignments, construction projects, resource procurements, or targeted weakenings of enemy fortresses. These missions always take several in-game hours. At the campfire or in bed, you can intentionally kill some time and rest.
Traveling like Iron Man
On foot, via fast travel teleport, on the back of a horse, bear, or dinosaur, flying on a dragon, gliding with a cloak, sitting in a mech – over the years, new ways of traveling have been introduced for Kliff and the other playable heroes of Crimson Desert.
The developers are not deterred from introducing one more variant shortly before release in the launch trailer (see above, from minute 1:07): the rapid flying through the air with a jetpack. This allows you to transform into Iron Man or comfort yourself that Anthem has been discontinued.
What do I need to know about Crimson Desert? The open-world action-adventure from the creators of Black Desert will be released on March 19, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox. You can expect a pure single-player experience with a wonderfully old-school Buy2Play payment model (buy once, play everything, no microtransactions), a huge world, and plenty of content.
In the game, you take on the role of a mercenary named Kliff, who fights in the world of Pywel to reclaim his lost homeland.
