Marvel’s Avengers offers many content and features, but often their application and utility is quite confusing. Other goodies may be obvious, but what they bring is also not so clear. Therefore, we have collected some useful tips and advice here on MeinMMO that every player in the superhero MMO should know.
Those who play Marvel’s Avengers for the first time will quickly have some questions. The game explains many contents gradually, and some things remain vague and must be discovered by the players. Many players wonder why their heroes feel so weak or why they should collect comics.
Tips that would have been best known before playing
Regarding the above questions and several more, we have compiled a number of tips and tricks here to help you get the most out of the superhero MMO. Basic information before the first game start can be found here:
Make sure to adjust the camera
Here’s why you should do this: Marvel’s Avengers offers you several options in the camera settings, “Wide”, “Default”, and “Close”. You should try each of them. On “Wide”, you can see everything from a certain distance and have a better overview.
However, Close and Default offer you a more intense gaming experience, as you are right next to your hero like in games such as Tomb Raider or Uncharted.
The heroes’ side missions are particularly worthwhile
This is what it’s about: Every time you unlock a new hero in the campaign, you can complete a specific mission for him or her. These are excitingly staged missions tailored directly to the hero.
Here you get to know the hero better and experience an original, personal story, such as chasing a doppelganger as Thor or infiltrating an AIM base as Black Widow.
Fans of the exciting Avengers story should definitely not miss the missions. And if that’s not enough, you also get particularly cool gear and a unique costume as a reward for completing the mission.
Also useful: If you have unlocked a new character, make sure to visit your personal quarters on the Helicarrier. This leads to funny scenes. You can access the Helicarrier and other bases via the map and the option “Travel to Outpost”.
Don’t forget your dailies!
Here’s why it’s sensible: Every day, you receive tasks from the two factions of the Inhumans and SHIELD. Each faction gives you 8 quests, and you should accept as many as possible. The tasks are often not a big deal, among other things, you have to defeat certain enemies with specified attacks.
Each completed task grants you reputation with the faction, which in turn leads to better goods in the faction’s shop. So feel free to take on the tasks and try to complete as many as possible on the side. Unfinished tasks expire over time, but you get new ones daily.
Always hammer the tracking button
Here’s why you should do this: Never forget that with “Tactical Awareness”, you have a built-in sense for additional features in every mission. So get used to regularly pressing the button for this tracking feature.
Because in almost every mission, there are hidden goodies that you might otherwise overlook. These can be supply caches or captured Inhumans that you can rescue. The reward for these efforts are valuable XP and gear, which you would otherwise miss out on.
But remember that you should completed all these additional goodies before the mission ends. Because after completing it, you immediately go to the Quinjet and the mission is done.
Collecting comics is very beneficial
Why should you collect comics? It sounds strange, but in the world of Marvel’s Avengers, heroes are also comic heroes in the original Marvel comics. You can find and even read them in the game. But that’s not the main purpose of these colorful booklets.
Instead, the comics give you small boosts to your stats. If you find a complete set, you will get a decent boost to your game stats. Duplicate comics even give you the bonus multiple times. So it’s worth farming for the comics.
Where can you find comics? Comics are scattered all over the game world, another reason why you should continuously hammer the tracking button. Additionally, you earn comics as loot after H.A.R.M. training missions.
There are no respecs, but that’s not so bad
This is what it means: Unlike in many role-playing games, in Avengers you do not have the option to reset and redistribute your skills. So be careful where you invest your points – at least at the beginning of the game.
However, you can’t really screw up too badly, because at max level 50, you have enough points to unlock at least the basics in every skill.
Don’t rely on auto-loadout
Here’s why you should choose gear manually: After every mission, you often have lots of new items in your inventory that you can use. But which items are the best? The game offers a seemingly helpful function that automatically equips the currently best gear.
However, the game takes the easy way out, simply choosing the gear with the nominally best power level. This may be completely reasonable (at the beginning of the game), but if you want to optimize a certain build, the item with a lower score but useful bonuses for range combat may be more suitable for you personally.
So pay attention here and check manually what each item does before letting the game make the choice for you.
Also a good tip for gear: Always break down white and certain green items immediately, as they are usually trash and only useful as a resource provider.
Only after level 15 does it really get going
Why do my heroes feel so weak? At the start of the game, your heroes are not yet at their peak, and even the seemingly unstoppable Hulk can be quickly beat down by a group of AIM bots.
However, this changes significantly as soon as you reach level 15. And it gets more intense with following levels. Because from this point on, it becomes worthwhile to slowly build certain builds and for example turn the Hulk into an almost unstoppable tank by investing enough points into his rage skills.
So be patient with your heroes and don’t dive deep into the skill system and stats until you are level 15. By the way, you can find out how to quickly reach max level here.
Use the checkpoint reset if things aren’t going well in solo play
This is how this trick works: If you get wiped out completely three times in a mission, the scenario fails, and you have to start over. However, at least in solo play with AI companions, there is a neat trick to tackle the situation more often.
If you have already died twice and are attempting your last try, you can simply press the pause button and select “Reset Checkpoint” in the menu. This will delete your progress before the last checkpoint, but you will have your full three “lives” back.
Don’t forget your minor artifacts
This is what these artifacts are about: “Minor Artifacts” are useful stat boosters, but they are not so easy to find. You neither get them as drops nor are they usually awarded for missions.
So it may be that you have unnecessarily low power level because at level 30 you are still using a measly artifact at level 6. Therefore, you should also keep your minor artifacts up to date and get a matching item to your overall level in due time.
Where to find minor artifacts: A good source for minor artifacts are Drop Zone type missions. You will always receive a minor artifact when you complete the scenario, and the mission is also super fast.
