In Destiny 2, Season 13 will end in a few days and the Season of the Splicer will start. Well-prepared Guardians are now acquiring 3 weapons and stocking up on the most important resources to gain an advantage. But how worthwhile is this in Season 14?
So there’s little time left: Season 14 in Destiny 2 begins on May 11 at 7:00 PM. The chapter will run until August 24, 2021. So there isn’t much time left for preparations.
MeinMMO has gathered the most important tips that won’t take much time and that you can conveniently implement in the remaining days. We will clarify the following questions:
- Which weapons do I need in Season 14?
- Should I gather resources?
- How do I prepare for the leveling phase and what about bounties?
By now, it’s a tradition that Bungie reveals a new season only a few days before it starts. The Season 14 roadmap shows what content awaits you.
3 weapons you need before Season 13 ends
Get this Exotic: The exotic linear fusion rifle Sleeper Simulant will be a real monster in Season 14.
Thanks to the announced buff, the exotic will clean up in the power slot in PvE and be a hot candidate during damage phases. All legendary and exotic linear fusion rifles will soon deal +15% more damage on precision hits and have +20% more reserve ammo.
You will obtain Sleeper Simulant from the Exo kiosk in the Tower. Don’t worry, the exotic won’t cost you any raid exotic rewards.
Which legendary will be important? The legendary linear fusion rifle Needle’s Eye is likely the best of its kind that doesn’t require an exotic slot. With perks like Vorpal Weapon and the Self-Loading Holster, or Rapid Hit, you have a real boss killer that benefits from the buffs.
You can farm Needle’s Eye quite easily in Season 13. You can reliably get the linear fusion rifle through Umbral Engrams. But there are also rewards waiting for you in Battlegrounds and the Season Pass.
This exotic will soon be gone: The “Guardian Games” are still running in Destiny 2. Don’t miss the chance to secure the event exotic Inheritance Appearance.
The submachine gun may not be part of the absolute meta, but it will likely not be found anywhere in the game for a long time. The effort for the exotic is currently very low, so don’t let this opportunity slip away.
2 exotic catalysts you still need
Along with the two exotic weapons, we definitely recommend obtaining the respective masterwork catalysts:
- The catalyst for Sleeper Simulant can be obtained randomly after completing Nightfalls. As a masterwork, the weapon charges faster and receives larger reserves. You only need 300 kills to level up.
- The catalyst for Inheritance Appearance can only be obtained briefly during the Guardian Games. As a masterwork, the unique shield of the exotic improves. However, the upgrade requires quite a bit of work: Here’s how to acquire the new catalyst for the event exotic – What the upgrade involves
Which weapons in Season 14 will still benefit from buffs can be found here on MeinMMO:
Resources and money
Disassemble all shaders: In Season 14, all your 1,000 shaders will disappear forever. Whether they end up in your vault, inventory, or postmaster.
You have a few days left to manually disassemble all shaders and thus acquire a small fortune. Disassembling with the Cryptarch is a bit faster. The shaders will disappear because Bungie is significantly overhauling cosmetic features in Season 14, and transmog is finally coming.
Here’s how to invest Glimmer:
- If you’re already at the Glimmer Maximum, buy expensive exotic Sparrows and ships. Keep them in your inventory and then disassemble them in Season 14 when you need Glimmer.
- It’s also never wrong to invest excess Glimmer in upgrade materials from Banshee-44 in the Tower.
At the start of a new season, there are often many expenses. However, at the end of Season 13, Guardians are usually swimming in money; thinking about the future with this trick is a good idea. Especially through disassembling all those shaders, you’ll bring in quite a bit of cash.
Preparing for the leveling phase in the Season of the Splicer
How important is it? Fortunately, an intense preparation for the leveling phase in Season 14 is far less important than in the past. The new max level for gear is 1,320. That’s only a jump of +10 levels – significantly lower than the usual +50.
This eliminates the grind of old activities for many Guardians just to keep up with the new missions and activities. The Glass Chamber will be capped at 1,300 on May 22, so you can participate relatively quickly and without major preparations.
Are bounties still worth it? Many Guardians hoard completed bounties to redeem them in the new season. The experience benefits the fresh season pass and the artifact. Bungie has weakened this preparation method season after season.
If you still want to feed your seasonal artifact with EXP right at the start of the new Season 14, you can do so and gain a small advantage. Use primarily weekly bounties.
These NPCs have weekly bounties:
- Hawthorne in the Tower (the clan bounties)
- Variks on Europa
- Shaw Han in the Cosmodrome
- Eris Morn on the Moon
You can also secure some daily bounties, for example, from planetary NPCs like Devrim in the EDZ. But whether it’s actually worth it, you’ll have to decide for yourself.
What you need to know about the current season pass
As with every season, the question arises, what do I do with the contents of the season pass of the expiring Season 13? You have 2 options:
- Clear the pass completely on all characters to be on the safe side.
- You can also leave all unnecessary content in the pass and claim it later in the new Season 14. In the past, the armor had the level of the new season and some new items could even be found in exotic engrams. The downside: You need to claim rewards through Bungie’s website: https://www.bungie.net/7/en/Seasons/PreviousSeason.
But don’t forget to level the pass – if you’re not already level 100. Once the new season starts, it will be impossible, and all unearned content will disappear forever.
Here’s an overview of the highlights of the season pass from the Season of the Chosen:
Don’t forget to claim all open titles amidst all the preparations. Otherwise, all the work for Conquerors and Co. will be in vain.
How do you start the new season of the Splicer in Destiny 2? Do you go in unprepared and let everything come to you, or do you always get the most out of it to have an advantage? By the way, what do you think about Bungie reducing the leveling grind between seasons? Let us know in the comments.
