Mega Frosdedje
With its Mega Evolution, Frosdedje has received a design that further emphasizes the inspiration behind the Pokémon. With a kimono, elongated “hair,” and sharper ice crystals on its head that now look even more like a demon, the connection to Japanese folklore becomes even clearer.
Frosdedje is indeed inspired by a Yuki-Onna (“snow woman”), the spirit of a tall woman who lives in the icy mountains of Japan and can drive people insane with a glance. Just like the woman in folklore, Frosdedje leaves no footprints as it hovers above the ground.
With the design of the Mega Evolution, Mega Frosdedje is even better captured and gains a more mystical and dangerous appearance worthy of a ghost Pokémon.
Mega Calamanero
Calamanero has gained real style with its Mega Evolution. It’s no surprise that the people of Illumina have almost become fanatical over this Pokémon (they were hypnotized, of course, but how can one resist their friend Calamanero?)
Mega Calamanero doesn’t just impress with its Mega Brain, but also its Mega Presence. It still has the same tentacled squid look as the regular version of Calamanero, but it embodies even more a Psychic Pokémon that would hypnotize an entire city to make people love it, with its fluid movements and smooth tentacles.
Mega Calamanero has rightfully risen to fan-favorite status and received similar attention to that given to Mega Starmie – only that people find a hypnotizing Pokémon less frightening than a running starfish.
You deserve it, my friend Calamanero. Only the first place is worthy of you.
Of course, tastes are always different, especially regarding designs. Perhaps you find another Mega Pokémon particularly cool that didn’t make it onto this list. Feel free to let us know which Mega Evolution you think is particularly great (or awful)!
A Mega Evolution of a popular monster from Pokémon Legends: Z-A is also quite cool, but this one is only available to a group of players, which the fans find really unfortunate: If you grind fast enough, you can get a limited-time Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but for that, you need a subscription
