Special Case: The Elder Scrolls Online
Zenimax’s MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online is actually rated from 16 years in Germany, but in the USA, it is rated from 18. However, this applies only since the introduction of the justice system, because with this, it is possible to attack and kill civilians. The regular quests and fights against monsters and other opponents are not more brutal than in other MMORPGs.
Rated 16 in Germany
Why the new justice system did not play a role for the USK is unclear. A re-evaluation due to the new content was not conducted. In the game itself, things are slightly bloody, for example, when vampires drink the life force of their victims. Occasionally, there are also sexual innuendos, and some corpses can be seen. Due to the different classification of the game in Germany and the USK, ESO represents a special case.
