Bethesda’s upcoming SciFi role-playing game Starfield is full of details. We present you the 10 that you might not know yet on MeinMMO.
With Starfield, Bethesda is releasing a role-playing game in September that aims to set high standards and offers 1,000 explorable planets. In various showcases like the Gameplay Deep Dive in June 2023, the developers have already shown us what to expect in the SciFi epic.
Among the many published pieces of information, there are also details that some may have missed. Therefore, we summarize here 10 details that you might not know about Starfield:
Todd Howard revealed that Starfield will be something like a “modder paradise”
Bethesda’s lead designer Todd Howard, by the way, the only person allowed to talk about unpublished information regarding Starfield, revealed in an interview with the YouTube channel “Kinda Funny Games” that Starfield would be “something like a modder paradise” because that is part of Bethesda’s DNA (via YouTube).
According to Howard, it is important for developers to not only allow modding in Starfield but to make it easier. Fans particularly appreciate The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for its mod community that added countless contents and expanded the gaming experience.
Return of your biggest fan
At the presentation in June 2023, Bethesda showed a bright blonde man who will meet you in Starfield as “Adoring Fan” and has a great admiration for the player.
However, the fan is not a novelty in Bethesda games. The NPC was already included in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and can also become part of your crew in Starfield.
Those who take in the annoying fan can expect exuberant compliments, gifts, and creepy comments.
You send 2% of your income to your parents every week
In Starfield, you have the option to add various background information to your character’s life path. One of them is that your parents are alive, and you can visit them at their home.
In the Gameplay Deep Dive from June 2023, it is additionally shown that you automatically send 2$ of your credits home to your parents. (via YouTube; Timestamp: 14:58)
First story DLC named “Shattered Space” announced
A not particularly secret detail that still not everyone is aware of: Starfield has already announced the first story DLC. This will be called “Shattered Space” and is part of the digital premium edition.
Individual planets can have different biomes
In the Starfield gameplay that Bethesda has already shown us, we also saw the use of a scanner. With this scanner, we could, for example, get information about living beings that live on a planet.
One of the creatures shown in the showcase named “Mothwing Grazer” is, according to the scanner, a peaceful being and occurs in various biomes such as mountains, swamps, and savannah (via YouTube; Timestamp: 35:11).
If we assume that the same extraterrestrial beings do not live on a multitude of diverse planets, then some of the planets in Starfield must possess multiple biomes.

In the various showcases, we have already seen several planets and other astronomical objects as well as their names.
Among the usual suspects known from our solar system like Earth, Mars, and the Earth’s moon, the planet Jemison from the “Alpha Centauri” star system particularly stands out as a kind of “new Earth”.
On Jemison is also New Atlantis, the capital of the United Colonies, which according to Bethesda is the largest city they have ever designed.

The space cowboy of our crew has famous ancestors
Sam Coe, the space cowboy of your crew, could be a descendant of the founder of Akila City, Solomon Coe.
In line with this, the player’s character in the Starfield showcase walks past a sign in Akila City that indicates the way to “Coe Plaza” (via YouTube; Timestamp: 10:38).
Earth is likely uninhabitable
In the various showcases for Starfield, there are some phrasing that suggests that Earth is uninhabitable and that some kind of catastrophe occurred. For example, a quest line is hinted at where you are supposed to collect old artifacts originating from Earth.
Additionally, we see two images suggesting that Earth is now a kind of desert planet. At the beginning of the showcase, a huge steel arch is shown that, according to Reddit user Gokamo – the author of the 1,000-page Starfield document – resembles the Gateway Arch in Saint Louis.
However, instead of a lively metropolis, green plants, and buildings, we see only vast amounts of sand. The arch itself is also damaged.
We will probably find out more details as the game progresses, since both on Mars and Earth, quest symbols can be seen. It is quite possible that we can visit Earth.
Jemison is likely based on a real astronaut
The name of the planet Jemison is likely based on the American astronaut Dr. Mae Carol Jemison. Jemison flew into space with the Endeavour space shuttle in 1992 and was the first black woman in space.
Other aspects in Starfield are also based on well-known personalities by name. Another example is the star system Al-Battani, which is expected to be based on the Arab astronomer Mohammed ibn Jābir al-Battānī.
You can “hide” your spacesuit in settlements and wear normal clothes
In the first five minutes of the Gameplay Deep Dive in June, a small detail regarding your character’s appearance was visible. Therefore, in the inventory of Starfield, it is possible by pressing a button to “hide” your spacesuit in settlements (via YouTube, Timestamp: 4:22).
So, if you don’t feel like wearing your astronaut outfit in a populated area, you can somewhat remove it and instead strut around in normal clothing. This was also seen some time later in the showcase when the player character walked through Akila City in a cowboy outfit.
