The new trailer Destiny 2 Beyond Light shows not only cool action, but also a new Exotic, a secret message, and hints at flexible skill trees like in Destiny 1.
This is the new trailer: On July 23, Bungie announced a collaboration with Microsoft. There, a new trailer for the big fall expansion Beyond Light was released.
The focus of the brutal scenes is on the icy Stasis classes. However, those who pay close attention can find a ton of secrets and cool details. MeinMMO has kept an eye out for you and shows the hidden details from the DLC trailer.
New Stasis Exotic and Gear from Destiny 2 Beyond Light
This is the first Stasis Exotic: It is a tradition at Bungie to hide upcoming Exotics in trailers. The weapon that the Titan holds at second 55 is likely to be such an Exo.
It seems to be a kind of grenade launcher that shoots ice bombs and is assigned to the new Stasis element. Similar to the Withered Collector Exo, the weapon is powered by Darkness.
Bungie has already given a hint about the yet unnamed Exotic a month ago with a cryptic artwork.
These weapons and armors are new: Throughout the trailer, we see new armors and legendary weapons appearing repeatedly between quick cuts. The armors with striking helmets are probably the story armor from Europa.
We often see red-blue weapons that were also shown in a similar form previously as artwork here. Whether they are even top-tier weapons or something similar, we cannot say – But it is noteworthy that these guns are in the spotlight.
New ice abilities and a pinch of Anthem in Destiny 2
What is revealed about the new classes? That a new element is introduced with Beyond Light is no longer a secret. However, the trailer reveals some exciting details about Stasis, the first new element ever in the Destiny universe:
- With the Stasis abilities comes real Crowd Control for the first time, adding a significant dose of RPG to Destiny 2 – We see enemies literally freezing
- We see that some of the Stasis abilities also suppress human players in PvP, tearing them out of their Super – with two hits from the bouncing Hunter axe, the Guardians even freeze completely
- It seems that the ice attacks form a synergy with other abilities – The whole thing somewhat resembles Anthem, where enemies are first “primed” and with a subsequent combo, major damage is delivered
- One example of this is: The Warlock freezes enemies and the Titan shatters them – Even the known Nova Bomb interacts with ice walls, causing a splinter explosion
These freedoms the ice abilities offer: The new classes are to be structured differently than the previous focuses. They aim to align more closely with the flexible “knot system” from Destiny.
How exactly this flexibility will be implemented or what the class menu or skill trees will ultimately look like is known only to Bungie. However, the trailer already shows what kind of freedoms players can expect:
- You can likely swap the melee attack – Sometimes the Hunter wields a dagger and performs a slam, in other scenes, the Hunter wields two axes and throws them
- The Hunter also seems capable of throwing the axe in his Super and triggering an explosion, including a pull or stun
- The Titan performs a kind of shoulder attack that knocks back enemies or can initiate a slide attack that creates ice stalagmites
The trailer prominently shows that ice grenades can create new platforms and walls. This raises the question: Will these ice abilities become mandatory in future jumping puzzles, and will one be stranded without them?
Did you notice the secret message in the trailer?
This code is hidden: The puzzle solvers from Destiny Raidsecrets (via reddit) noticed that the new trailer contains an encoded message.
- Between individual scenes, keywords such as “Create” or “Shatter” appear in the trailer
- Some of the letters are underlined and likely form a message in the correct order
- These keywords are accompanied by a variety of numbers that apparently represent actual coordinates of the moon Europa
Bungie loves throwing players hard puzzles and puzzles at them. Some of these are solved only years later: A wall in Destiny 2 hid a puzzle that went unsolved for 2 years
Gameplay shows new locations and enemies
Does the trailer show the new raid? The trailer moves through the atmospheric camera pans over the vast ice desert of Europa and also gets lost in cramped fallen facilities. But the most interesting are these two locations:
- The first image could be a new “Social Space”. In the background, it looks like some NPCs are waiting.
- The second image likely showcases the legendary Deep Stone Crypt. We already know that the next raid will be set there.
This is shown about our new enemies: Throughout the trailer, the Guardians face a variety of Fallen. The familiar companions are also with them – some of them have received an icy look.
However, it gets interesting in two shots of the trailer:
We see a handful of combat robots – they seem to be smaller specimens of the boss from the “Culling of the Past” raid. It is unknown whether the enemies will only appear in a scripted story mission or will become regular enemies.
The Fallen equipped with ice weapons could be Eramis or one of her bodyguards. It is known that she created the Stasis element using Darkness.
Eramis will be the new main villain of the Beyond Light expansion. Did you know that the Fallen lady has been bothering you in Destiny 2 for years?
Did you find all the details in the trailer or did you even make additional observations with your eagle eyes?
