In Destiny 2, Guardians can not only shoot, but also experience exciting stories. However, many of the greatest mysteries have remained unanswered for players for years.
The Destiny universe has been taking Guardians into a world where futuristic sci-fi and mysterious fantasy settings collide for 6 years. As expected from a live-service game, the game world has constantly evolved, enticing players with interesting stories, quests, and characters – and, of course, weapons or armor.
However, many of the interesting stories have yet to be fully told, and the solutions to many puzzles still linger in the dark. In November, the next major Destiny chapter Beyond Light begins, and we hope that some of the loose story ends will finally converge into a coherent narrative.
MeinMMO takes a look at 10 exciting stories that need to be continued and assesses how likely it is that we will see resolutions soon.

10. An Exo Lady Has No Time
This story is about: The Exo Stranger is probably one of the best-known NPCs from Destiny, yet she has one of the shortest screen times. She appeared surprisingly in Destiny 1, threw at the player, “I don’t even have time to explain why I don’t have time to explain,” and shortly thereafter vanished without a trace since then.
As Destiny 2 progressed, we learned that the Stranger is Ana Bray’s sister – the Hunter herself has become one of the most important characters in the game. Both are connected with Rasputin, the legendary Deepstone Crypt, and the Bray dynasty of researchers. This company created the engrams and the Exos (race).
Is the resolution coming soon? It has been confirmed that the Exo Stranger plays a significant role in the new autumn DLC. In trailers and promotional material (via YouTube), she prominently appears in Europa, the DLC location. Finally, we will learn more about one of the puzzles that has occupied Guardians for 6 years.
Even the Destiny lead has hinted at it and provided some interesting clues about the Stranger and her Non-Ghost. Additionally, the next raid will finally take us into the Deepstone Crypt, where we will learn even more about Exos.
9. An Old Scoundrel is Being Pursued by Darkness
This story is about: The Drifter is one of the oldest characters from Destiny, yet we know little about this shady fellow. He encountered a form of darkness and allows Guardians to experiment with it in Gambit. He is also involved in the stories of the Ace of Spades and the Last Word.
A shadow of Yor confronted the Drifter impressively, but he managed to escape through the darkness. The relationship between the Gambit’s master and the darkness and why he is being hunted remains unclear.
Is the resolution coming soon? The Drifter has made his way to Europa and is waiting for players in Beyond Light. Interestingly, he is traveling without his mysterious Gambit attachment this time.
However, we doubt that the character will truly show his cards right at the start of the DLC. But throughout Year 4, we should finally learn more about him. And who knows what dark forces are still hunting the Drifter and will have to get past us.
8. Who Plays the Deadly Music of the Trials of Osiris?
This story is about: In spring 2020, MeinMMO reported that the Trials of Osiris harbor a dark secret. In the PvP battles, there is something sinister at play, an evil power sings when we fail and grows with each death of a Guardian.
The Trials overseer from Destiny 1, Brother Vance, was hypnotized by the deadly melody and released from his duties by Osiris. Only Saint-14 is considered steadfast enough by the time-traveling Warlock to oversee the Trials, and he is therefore our current Trials contact.
Is the resolution coming soon? Until we find out what the deadly Trials music is about, several seasons will likely pass. Osiris himself will probably be entirely preoccupied with his explorations at the edge of the universe for some time.
We could imagine that when new Trials loot comes into play from autumn 2020, at least small lore snippets will drive the story of Saint-14 and the Trials forward.
7. A Misguided Prince Rises from the Dead
This story is about: Guardians were astonished when a cutscene showed Uldren Sov rising from the dead and becoming a Guardian. Since then, it is unclear what role the now amnesiac will play and why he became a fighter for the Light.
The prince was responsible for the death of the most beloved Destiny character ever. To avenge Cayde-6, players embarked on a journey of revenge in the Forsaken expansion and confronted Uldren. Whether we killed him in the end or Petra is a hotly debated topic among Destiny fans, much like Han Solo’s shot among “Star Wars” fans.
Is the resolution coming soon? With each event comes new rumors that Uldren’s fate will be revealed soon. A prompt resolution would be desirable, but unfortunately impossible to predict.
He is still keeping his distance from the Guardians. However, his sister, queen of the Awoken, Mara Sov, plays an important role in the story of darkness, albeit so far from the second row.
6. Of Nanobots and Thinking Machine Gods
This story is about: It has been some time since self-replicating nanotechnology, SIVA, caused chaos in Destiny 1. Once, this technology nearly wiped out all Iron Lords.
With the increasing focus on machine god Rasputin in the last seasons, SIVA has come back into focus. During a lore-rich quest in season 10, players were shown that Rasputin sent his own Exo-son into the open knife and is involved with SIVA even more than previously thought.
Is the resolution coming soon? Two aspects suggest that SIVA will soon play an important role again:
- The Deepstone Crypt is connected to Felwinter, Rasputin’s deceased Exo-son, which is known to enter the game as a raid in season 12.
- Eramis, the Archvillain of Beyond Light, has secretly attempted to acquire SIVA technology.
However, it seems unlikely that with the focus on Stasis SIVA will play a significant role right at the DLC launch. However, it could be considered in one of the subsequent seasons when we feel the impact of our visit to the Deepstone Crypt.
