The latest expansion Repentance of The Binding of Isaac has brought some innovations for the player. We at MeinMMO would like to present you today 10 mods that can further improve the gaming experience.
How can you install the mods? You can easily get all mods through the Workshop on Steam. You just need to log into your Steam account and then click on the “subscribe” button for the respective mod. The game will then register the mod by itself and install it for you.
Where can you find the mods in the game? In The Binding of Isaac, you will find the submenu “Mods” in the main menu. There you can see all active mods listed and optionally activate or deactivate them at any time.
Boss Rush Wave Counter

What can the mod do? You will see in the boss rush how many waves of bosses are still waiting for you and which wave you are currently on. Normally, such a display is missing and as a player, you constantly wonder, “how many bosses are still coming?” or have to count in your head.
Always Open
Link to the mods and what they can do:
- 1. Mod: The portal to the Void, after Mom, Mom’s Heart/It lives, Isaac/Satan, ???/The Lamb, Mega Satan or Hush, is always open – via Steam.
- 2. Mod: Opens the gate to Hush, after It Lives, always – via Steam.
- 3. Mod: The access to the boss rush, after Mom, is always open – via Steam.
- 4. Mod: Guaranteed key pieces for Mega Satan – via Steam.
What does that mean? Normally, you have to do the following things for the portals and opening the doors:
- Void: Only has a maximum chance of 50% of appearing. However, if you manage to defeat Hush, the portal to the Void appears with 100% certainty.
- Hush: You can only reach Hush if you defeat Mom’s Heart or It Lives within 30 minutes.
- Boss Rush: Access to the boss rush opens only if you defeat Mom in 20 minutes. If you enter the Mausoleum or Gehenna in Repentance, you have 25 minutes.
- Mega Satan: You can only open the door to Mega Satan in the Chest or in the Dark Room if you collect 2 key pieces. You can only get them if Angel Rooms open after bosses, and you place a bomb behind the Angel statue inside. Afterwards, a fight against an Angel starts, and you get 1 key piece. After winning 2 battles against two such Angels, you have both pieces together and can open the gate.
The 4 mods remove the challenges, time pressure, or chances of the portals and always appear during gameplay.
Visible Lost Health

What can the mod do? Normally, it does not show you how many hearts you have when playing as the character “The Lost”. The mod additionally shows you when you have multiple shields for The Lost.
External Item (& Room) Descriptions

What can the mod do? The mod shows you a description and effects of items and rooms at the top left of the screen. For the items, descriptions of the following things are included:
- Normal items as well as spacebar items
- Trinkets
- Cards
- Runes
- All kinds of pills
- Possible transformations
If the descriptions disturb you during gameplay, you can easily toggle them on and off using F2.
Planetarium Chance

What can the mod do? The room type Planetarium can be unlocked since Repentance. Once you have done that, the game does not usually show you the probability of that room appearing. The mod changes that and adds a small symbol along with a % chance in your HUD.
Better Character Menu

What can the mod do? When you are in the character selection menu, the playable characters are normally displayed simply and without color. Additionally, the held items are only described. The mod brings color to the characters and shows you the held item as an icon.
Old Wardrobe

What can the mod do? The mod is solely for cosmetic purposes and spawns a wardrobe in the first room of each floor.
Since most items change the character’s appearance, there are certainly item combinations that you would prefer to see together rather than others. The in-game time pauses while you are changing outfits, so you can take your time.
