Herschel “Guy” Beahm, better known as “DrDisrespect”, had a major scandal in 2024 that cost him friends, advertising partners, and revenue from YouTube. However, the former Twitch streamer seems to be able to rely on his viewers.
What is DrDisrespect’s relationship with YouTube? After his permanent ban from Twitch in June 2020, DrDisrespect started streaming on YouTube. Unlike streaming colleagues like Valkyrae and Ludwig, who had lucrative deals with the video platform, he ended up empty-handed: due to his ban, he was available “for free” instead of needing to be purchased at a high price.
As one of the biggest gaming streamers on YouTube, the Doc could at least monetize his channel. However, that also came to an end in 2024: As the reasons for his ban from Twitch became known, the video platform suspended the monetization of his channel: Thus, the streamer can no longer earn money from ads being aired on his channel.
In October, the streamer was able to request a re-examination of his case – but YouTube rejected him. In the meantime, the Doc is relying on the generosity of his fans.
The ban on DrDisrespect was long considered a great mystery.
How does the streamer earn money now? As a result of his scandal, DrDisrespect has lost a large part of his revenue sources: not only did YouTube turn off the money tap for him, but he also lost advertising partners and was kicked out by his own studio.
This leaves the Doc with donations, or “gifts” from his viewers. And it seems that the streamer has maintained his viewers’ loyalty in October. According to data from the site Streamlabs, DrDisrespect received more than $20,000 in donations last month. That’s about 18,000 euros.

The largest donation amounted to $5,000, followed by two donations of $4,000 each, which seem to come from the same user.
As of the current status on November 4, 2024, DrDisrespect has received over $500 in donations from the community this month.
On October 25, the streamer also announced a new merchandise collection (via X). He now has to get by with that until he can appeal again at YouTube in about two months.
DrDisrespect is in a difficult position due to his ban, as it seems that no platform wants to offer him a lucrative deal. After being demonetized on YouTube and a falling out with Kick, the only platform currently in discussion for the Doc is the website Rumble.
Rumble is considered an alternative to YouTube, but with a stronger right-wing political orientation. Similar to Kick, the platform could prove to be a refuge for content creators who are excluded from the “family-friendly” platforms such as Twitch and YouTube. According to the head of the site, Twitch is expected to come to an end soon: Are streaming millionaires about to lose their incomes? Rumble CEO predicts the end of Twitch
