A while ago, Elon Musk announced on Twitter that they are working on porting various game engines for Tesla electric cars. Now, the developers are said to have succeeded in making the shoot-’em-up Cuphead playable in the cars. Meanwhile, PS4 owners are still waiting for the game to be released for Sony’s console.
What is it about? Elon Musk already announced in mid-May on Twitter that his engineers are working on porting various game engines to Tesla. Currently, they are said to be focusing on getting the Unity engine up and running, after which the Unreal engine is expected to follow.
Now, Musk confirmed in a podcast that the shoot-’em-up Cuphead runs successfully in the cars and will soon be released for the Tesla Model 3, Model S, and Model X. Therefore, Cuphead will likely be playable in a Tesla sooner than on the Sony console PS4.
Tesla has already released a number of classic Atari games for the models S, 3, and X, which can be controlled with the car’s touchscreen or via USB controllers.
According to Maja Moldenhauer from studio MDHR, the developers of Cuphead, the game runs “smoothly and cleanly” on the Tesla. They are aiming for a release on the Teslas later in the summer. However, due to memory limitations, only the region Inkwell Isle One is playable.
What is Cuphead? Cuphead is a shoot-’em-up that can be played solo and in drop-in co-op at any time. What is special about the game is its graphic style, which resembles 1930s cartoons, as well as its brutal difficulty level.
After the title was released exclusively for Windows 10 and Xbox One, Cuphead is now also available for Nintendo Switch and through Steam. Whether the side-scroller will ever come to Sony’s consoles is questionable.

What do the players say? In the Games subreddit, the Cuphead porting is being received positively. Some users joke about the fact that the game is playable on a Tesla before it even comes to the PS4.
Tesla owners report that the games can only be played in the car when it is parked. Nevertheless, it is a nice pastime when waiting or charging the Tesla.
