The time to say goodbye has come. We tell you which content in World of Warcraft will disappear – as Battle for Azeroth is just around the corner.
The next expansion for World of Warcraft is not far away. Meanwhile, the download of Patch 8.0 has already been initiated, marking the start of Battle for Azeroth. But that also means we have to say goodbye to a lot of content. Certain achievements and mounts will no longer be available. Entire professions are being removed, and artifact weapons are also on the chopping block.
What disappears with the WoW Pre-Patch 8.0.1
Release date: (expected) July 18, 2018
PvP Servers
PvP servers in World of Warcraft have become obsolete. Once the patch is active, there will only be “Normal” and “Roleplay” servers in the future. However, this does not mean that there is no longer any PvP in the open world. Instead, all players on all servers will have the option to opt into the “War Mode” in their capital city. They will then be shifted into a phase where only other players interested in PvP are present. Players can toggle the War Mode on and off at their discretion, but this can only be done in a capital city.
The abilities of the artifact weapon
With Patch 8.0, the instability of your artifact weapon is too strong and it loses its powers. From then on, it will no longer be possible to use your special artifact ability (such as the phoenix for fire mages or the void siphon for shadow priests). At the same time, all passive bonuses, i.e., the traits, will also be completely disabled. However, your artifact weapon will continue to benefit from equipped relics that increase the pure item level. Therefore, the weapon will still be the best option during the transition period.
Antorus Achievements for Argus
Once the pre-patch is deployed, two achievements will be lost forever, related to defeating Argus, the Unmaker in Antorus, the Burning Throne.
- Ahead of its Time: Argus, the Unmaker (heroic)
- Top Performer: Argus, the Unmaker (mythic)
Both achievements will no longer be available once the pre-patch goes live. So if you want as many achievements as possible, you should give your guild a nudge to go all out in the final weeks!
First Aid and the “Field Medic” Title
As the profession “First Aid” is being removed, all achievements related to it will no longer be available in the game. This also means that the title “Field Medic”, which was introduced with Legion, can no longer be obtained! If you want to snag this, you’ll need to work hard. The requirements and how to approach it effectively are covered in detail in this guide:
Devaluation of Pet Charms
If you have accumulated many pet charms over the expansion, you should use them quickly to exchange for level-up stones. Because with the pre-patch, there will be a new pet currency that will be used for all “permanently meaningful items” – that is, all pet rewards that provide level-ups or improve the quality of a pet. However, you can still use the old charms to purchase toy rewards from Legion, such as the illusion mirror, which transforms the user into their pet.
What disappears with the release of WoW: Battle for Azeroth
Release date: August 14, 2018
Purple Spellwing
If you want to have the particularly cool mount “Purple Spellwing”, you will also have to put in some effort. With the release of Battle for Azeroth, it will no longer be possible to obtain this mount. You get the quest and thus the mount guaranteed after defeating Argus, the Unmaker on Heroic or Mythic. Many guilds “sell” this achievement these days. So if you have the necessary gold, you can buy into an appropriate group.
Even though many things will disappear permanently, there is still time to get some of the rewards. What they are and how to go about it, we have addressed in this article:
Do you like the upcoming changes? Or would you prefer everything to stay as it is?
