If you still don’t own Helldivers 2 despite its success, you can now play it for free – but only if you’ve spent €1,000 in 18 months.
How can you now play Helldivers 2 for free? Helldivers 2 is now included as a reward in the PlayStation Stars rewards catalog – the loyalty program for PS4 and PS5.
All members of PlayStation Stars have the opportunity to collect loyalty points, which you can then redeem in the rewards catalog of the PlayStation app.
Helldivers 2 is available in the PlayStation Stars rewards catalog and can be added to your game library in exchange for 10,000 points.
How do you get these points? You can earn points for the rewards catalog in 2 different ways:
- You can complete so-called campaigns and win points. Campaigns consist of a series of objectives that you need to complete. Objectives include exploring game areas, playing with friends, or participating in global tournaments.
- You earn points for qualifying purchases in the PlayStation Store if you are subscribed to PlayStation Plus.

PS Stars: €1,000 for 10,000 points
How much do 10,000 points cost? As reported by the online magazine GamesRadar+, you earn about 10 points per purchase in the PlayStation Store.
PlayStation Stars has been available in Germany since October 13, 2022. This means you have had 1.5 years to collect 10,000 points.
If you haven’t completed any PlayStation Stars campaigns, you would have needed to spend about €1,000 in 18 months for the 10,000 points required for Helldivers 2.
PS5 players enjoyed a significant advantage in Helldivers 2 over PC players and dealt more damage. That is now over: In Helldivers 2, there was a massive “buff” for PS5 that PC players did not have – now everyone is equally strong.
