The Free2Play military MMO focused on aircraft, War Thunder, has released a new patch that mainly focuses on the end of World War II.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of the war, a new patch is available in War Thunder. It brings three fresh maps: “Normandy”, “Hürtgen Forest”, and “Berlin”. All of them focus on ground combat in “difficult terrain.”
In Normandy, there are numerous ambush opportunities. The Hürtgen Forest near Düren was historically the site of the longest battle of World War II. The opposing parties engaged in a protracted and grueling positional battle here from October ’44 to February ’45. Thanks to War Thunder, players can now relive this. The map Berlin is supposed to depict, according to the developers, “the last battle of Nazi Germany in front of the Reichstag.”
In addition to the maps, 40 new vehicles and aircraft are coming to War Thunder. These include specific vehicles associated with certain battalions or war heroes of World War II, primarily ace pilots. War Thunder refers to these as “legendary.”
