Blizzard has released new skins in the Diablo 4 shop in a crossover. You can now buy a skin for each class, inspired by a hero (or villain) from World of Warcraft. The catch: Each skin costs 25 euros.
How can I play as Arthas?
- On Friday evening around 10 PM German time, Blizzard updated the shop for Diablo 4.
- The new offerings now include the feature “Warcraft Legends 2”, which features some of the most renowned characters from the story of Warcraft.
- The skins include Arthas, the greatest antagonist that World of Warcraft has ever had. Also included: His soul-consuming sword Frostmourne.
These are the new skins: Blizzard has introduced a total of 6 new skins as well as a new mount in the shop, which you can purchase for 2,800 platinum each (equivalent to 25 euros). Each of the 6 classes in the game has a skin that only they can use; there is also a mount for the same price:
- Necromancer: Arthas, the Lich King including Frostmourne
- Hunter: Illidan including the Twin Blades of Azzinoth
- Druid: Malfurion including his staff, Withered Oak
- Spiritborn: Bwonsamdi including his bone back piece
- Sorceress: Jaina including the staff of Antonidas
- Barbarian: Garrosh Hellscream including Bloodhowl and his iconic shoulder horns
- The spectral mount As’adar in two forms (red and blue) including the ranger’s gear
This is already the second time that Blizzard offers a crossover of the two franchises in Diablo 4. A few months ago, there was the first batch of skins in the shop, featuring Varian, Kael’thas, and Sylvanas.
“They are all incredibly good”
Although Blizzard has often been criticized for the shop and especially the absurdly expensive skins, the new offering is being well received in the initial moments. Users on Reddit praise how exceptionally well the heroes from Azeroth look in Diablo 4.
However, some of the skins are better received than others. The Lich King, Garrosh, and Bwonsamdi seem to be the most popular, while Malfurion and Jaina are less so. Druids have been criticized since release for their stature and players are jokingly saying now: “Malfurion has just started to pump.” (via Reddit)
The price remains a topic of debate within the community. While some believe that looking like a Warcraft hero for 25 euros is certainly worth a one-time payment, others say: The money could be better invested. In any case, one should never spend money that one does not have freely available.
Those who prefer to earn something for free can farm some coveted titles directly in the game. Many of them are available for little effort – but for some, Blizzard seems to have miscalculated: Blizzard wants you to kill treasure goblins in Diablo 4 for 48 years – But how is that supposed to work?
