In Diablo 4 you have the chance to get the rarest items as drops from bosses. However, you can also get the items from a vendor with some luck. And you are collecting the currency for that almost “as a side effect.”
Which vendor are we talking about? You can “gamble” with your obols at the Curiosity Vendor in Diablo 4 for items. You receive items from a specific category that you choose, which then have a rarity ranging from common to unique. With the “Gambler”, you have a chance of getting Uniques and legacy items. Since Season 6, he seems to be a particularly good place for rare items.
Players report that they even receive Mythic Uniques from the vendor. Mythic Uniques are even rarer than “normal” Uniques. Here you can find an overview of all Mythics. You have a chance for Mythics when you defeat the “tormented” bosses starting from Inferno Level 1. To summon the bosses, you need certain materials.
At the Curiosity Vendor, you simply spend your collected obols. You primarily obtain them in the shaft, but also at events and in the Hell Tides. Since you level your glyphs, farm tributes, and also gear in the shaft, you almost gather the obols effortlessly.
In the shaft, you also unlock new difficulty levels in Diablo 4:
What have players received from the vendor? In a 12-second clip, SweetSweetGabe shows on Reddit how he spends 650 obols at the Gambler. His haul: three Legendaries, 5 Uniques – one of which is a legacy item with a larger affix – and one Mythic Unique.
Since Season 6, there are no sacred items anymore, which makes legacy items even more valuable and rarer. Legacy items, or ancestor items, are the only items that have an item power of 800. They always possess at least one larger affix, which is an affix that is 1.5 times as strong as a normal one – identifiable by the star.
The Mythic Unique is a legacy Harlequin’s Crown with a larger affix. The mythic headpiece is a strong choice for many endgame builds since all classes can equip it, granting you +4 ranks on all skills.
Some seem to be confused that the player received a headpiece even though he actually gambled for boots. This can happen if it is a category that doesn’t have any Mythics – like boots. This also happened to another player: he received a mythic chest piece as a result.
Mythic Uniques also play an important role in many endgame builds. You can find the strongest builds in Season 6 of Diablo 4 here:
In the comment, songogu writes that it’s basically an “extra chance” to get Mythics. You get obols anyway. However, for the bosses, you require specific materials. Generally, you need resources for many things in Diablo 4 – whether for crafting or to engage in certain activities and bonuses. We have created a guide for materials, runes, glyphs, and other items that you need in the endgame of Diablo 4.
