Destiny 2 has given up on its time-gating and is bringing you a new Exo a week after the release of Episode: Heresy, which you will have to find first. Where to find it, what it can do, and whether it’s worth it, you will find out here.
What kind of Exo is this? The weapon is called Karrengespann (eng. Barrow-Dyad) and is a submachine gun with the element “Strand,” which has entered the game with Episode: Heresy. With the perk “Panic Reaction,” the weapon generates Blight when it deals damage.
If you pause your fight, your magazine will be partially recharged by the Blight – however, if you reload, the Blight will be converted into Blight Seekers that can then be unleashed upon enemies.
This time, fans do not have to wait until Act 3 for their new Exo. Instead, they can go on a secret quest and secure the prized item right now.

How do I get the Exo? To obtain the Exo, you need to proceed as follows. Please note that this is a secret quest, so you need to keep your eyes peeled and discover certain things. Proceed as follows:
- Start a round from the Nether in exploration mode
- Look for a misplaced Taken bubble and jump in
- Complete the sequence in the bubble
- Stand on the platform in the bubble
- Shoot the Scarrow Rune
- Move in the direction indicated by the message in the lower left corner
- Collect the Taken Bone Fragment
- Go to Eris’s apartment and interact with the seasonal vendor there – the stone plate
- Collect the new quest “The Taken Path”
- Activate the Night Vision Rune at the stone plate
- Head to the Harbor of Sorrows on the Moon in the Lost Sector “K1 Revelation”
- Complete the puzzle around the plate and the Taken sphere there and collect the Taken Bone Fragment
- Cannot be missed
- Complete the puzzle around the plate and the Taken sphere there and collect the Taken Bone Fragment
- Go to the Forgotten Coast on the Cosmodrome in the Lost Sector “Veles Labyrinth”
- Complete the puzzle around the plate and the Taken sphere there and collect the Taken Bone Fragment
- Search the tunnels for the sphere, it might be missed otherwise
- Complete the puzzle around the plate and the Taken sphere there and collect the Taken Bone Fragment
- Return to the stone plate and collect three quests:
- Curse of Endurance
- Curse of Urgency
- Curse of Revenge
- Return to the Nether and search for a Serf Statue at each of the three spawn points that you can interact with and collect one Taken Bone Fragment from each

- Activate the Exotic Mission “Derealize” and grab the weapon from the mission
Is the Exo worth it? Yes and no. The weapon can perform solidly in PvP and PvE with its current perks, but it lacks the kick. The effect of reload speed and the Taken spheres is useful, but there are alternative options like Osteo Striga that currently perform better, especially due to their continuous tracking and add-clear potential.
So far, Karrengespann has not reached its full potential, as you can enhance the weapon with additional quests, which are unfortunately still time-locked for now. It remains to be seen how the new upgrades can further adjust the weapon to make it shine.
