On a Southwest Airlines flight, every passenger was gifted a Nintendo Switch along with a matching game. Nice, right?
What was given away? On a Southwest Airlines flight to San Diego, travelers were surprised. Everyone on board received a voucher for a free “Nintendo Switch” console and a copy of Super Mario Maker 2.
They could redeem the voucher after the flight and then take their new gaming console with them. Just like that.
One of the lucky passengers is Nicholas Friedman, who reported on the event on Twitter and posted pictures.
Why were there gifts? A partnership between Nintendo and Southwest, as stated by Comicbook.com, had already existed in the past. They give away consoles and games to travelers who choose this airline for transportation.
The giveaway of the Nintendo Switch + Super Mario Maker 2 is the latest and is said to kick off “a summer full of surprises” according to Southwest.
Choosing this particular flight was probably no coincidence. The flight was from Dallas to San Diego. The local Comic Con is currently taking place in San Diego.
There was even more to win: In line with the gift, there is a special course in Super Mario Maker 2 called “Super Sky Challenge.” The level was created by Southwest. Those who played the level during the flight participated in a raffle.
The winner received another Nintendo Switch, a copy of the game, and a $500 voucher for Southwest. Visitors to San Diego Comic Con also have the chance to win such a prize.
