In Wuthering Waves, you can obtain playable characters through the Gacha system. However, there are also some characters that you can get completely for free. Which characters those are and how to obtain them, you can read here.
How do you get characters in Wuthering Waves? You obtain characters in the game through the so-called summoning.
There is the limited-time Featured Resonator Summon and the Standard Resonator Summon. The latter is permanently available.
However, you can also obtain some characters in Wuthering Waves for free by playing the story or completing certain events.
In total, you will receive seven different characters for free. Here you will find an overview of which characters those are and how to obtain them.
1. Rover

- Weapon: Sword
How do you get Rover? You will automatically receive Rover at the beginning of Wuthering Waves. You can choose between a female and a male character.
2. Yangyang
- Rarity: 4 stars
- Attribute: Aero
- Weapon: Sword
How do you get Yangyang? You will receive Yangyang as a free character during the main story.
3. Chixia
- Rarity: 4 stars
- Attribute: Fusion
- Weapon: Pistol
How do you get Chixia? You will receive Chixia as a free character during the main story.
4. Baizhi
- Rarity: 4 stars
- Attribute: Glacio
- Weapon: Equalizer
How do you get Baizhi? You will definitely receive Baizhi during the tutorial to the Gacha system.
5. Sanhua
- Rarity: 4 stars
- Attribute: Glacio
- Weapon: Sword
How do you get Sanhua? You will get Sanhua through the event “Gifts of the Thawing Frost”. To obtain her, you must log in to the game for five consecutive days. The event is permanently available in the game.
6. Yuanwu

How do you obtain the free 5-star character? Check the game mailbox. There you will find the item “Mutual Tides Voucher”.
After you claim it, you will find another banner in the summoning where you can choose your favorite character. You can redeem the voucher until May 22, 2025, 11:59 (UTC+8).
