The year 2018 is coming to an end and it is time to think about 2019. What wishes does the Pokémon GO community have for the game?
2018 was a full year in the world of Pokémon GO. Unbelievably many features have enriched the game and one can be curious about what Niantic has in store for 2019.
We asked you in our Pokémon Group on Facebook and on our Pokémon GO Page on Facebook what wishes you have for the game in 2019. We show you the most requested wishes and give an outlook on whether implementation is possible.
This is what you wish for Pokémon GO
The list of wishes is long. We have picked the best and most realistic wishes and present them together. These wishes were mentioned most frequently:
New Pokémon
At the end of the year, the first part of Generation 4 was released. Gradually, Niantic is also bringing more Pokémon into the game.
This is what players want: Trainers like Tobias F. write on Facebook that they want the complete release of Generation 4. At the moment, not all Pokémon of the generation have yet been released.
In addition to Pokémon of Generation 4, Pokémon from Generation 2 and 3 are also being requested, which are not yet available. While there are not many left, the Pokédex is still not full.
Is this likely? Niantic had already announced via Twitter that new Pokémon will be released in early 2019.This will probably involve more Pokémon from Generation 4.
But Pokémon from other generations could definitely appear in 2019. In November, Niantic unexpectedly brought Nincada, Ninjask, and Ninjatom into the game.
In-game chat system
Since Niantic introduced PvP battles in December, communication among players has become all the more important. Many players are also friends with people they do not know personally and with whom they have no direct connection on social networks. An arrangement for battles, for example, is currently not possible.
This is what players demand: On Facebook, fans are calling for a chat in the game. There, one should be able to communicate with friends and make arrangements for battles or raids.
Antje E. writes, for example: “I wish I could contact my friends in-game!”
Is this likely? A chat system would definitely be a big task for Niantic. But players are demanding that one should be able to write to each other in the game. Niantic must have taken note of that.
Plans from Niantic for such a system are not known. A chat function is already standard in other games and would fit perfectly into Pokémon GO.
Item trading function
If you play Pokémon GO for a whole day, you will certainly throw away many items. The bag is just too small and the items are often too much. Players want improvements in this regard.
This is what players demand: Since 2018 you can trade Pokémon, now there should finally be an option to trade items. Some players need potions and others need balls. So why not just trade?
Djholy D. writes: “I wish for a function that allows trading items with friends.” This would indeed relieve the bag and bring progress for the players.
Is this likely? Theoretically, the system should be feasible. If you can trade Pokémon, then trading items should not be a problem.
Whether Niantic is convinced of this idea remains to be seen. After all, you can buy Poké Balls and Max Revives in the shop. If you can trade these, sales will likely go down.
This is what you also wish for
You have more wishes for Niantic and Pokémon GO. We have listed some of them here:
- One-time team change in the game
- An online status for friends to recognize who is ready for a trainer battle
- A “GO” button for raids that you can press when you want to start the raid
- Increase of the maximum level
- A function to delete eggs
- A function to delete raid passes
- A revision of the friends list to identify which people can still receive a gift
- An extended characterization to give your character beards or new hairstyles
- Submit PokéStops in Germany
- The return of Rayquaza and Groudon and no further raids from Lugia or Ho-Oh
This is what our author Noah wishes
For me, 2018 was an awesome year in Pokémon GO. There were a ton of new features, and I had a lot of fun with numerous events. Niantic has set the bar quite high for 2019.
This is what I wish for: Many of my wishes were also mentioned by the community. Especially the “GO” button for raids is long overdue, as you waste unnecessary time in lobbies. I would also like to finally be able to submit PokéStops.
I think the new PvP system is awesome, and I can finally compete with my friends. However, Niantic still needs to work on the team leaders. In my opinion, they are far too easy and predictable because team leaders always use the same Pokémon.
This is what I want to achieve: I am setting myself a challenge: I want to finally reach 100 million experience points. I only need 9 million more. That should be easily achievable in 2019.
For 2019, I particularly wish from Niantic that they continue where they left off. I had many beautiful moments with the game in 2018 and look forward to more events in 2019.
How it will continue for us at MeinMMO and Pokémon GO in 2019, you can find out here:
