With the next WoW expansion, it will no longer be possible to earn all the skins for the Artifact weapons. But which ones will still be available?
Slowly but surely, the current expansion of World of Warcraft is approaching its final stretch. With Patch 7.3.2, the raid Antorus, the Burning Throne, will soon be opened – the last major content drop before the break until the next expansion. It has long been clear that with Patch 8.0 (the next expansion), it will no longer be possible to collect all skins for Artifact weapons.
The plan is as follows: After the Legion expansion comes to an end, the unlocked Artifact weapon skins will become templates. These can then be transferred to future weapons if desired. This way, at least the appearance of the Artifact weapons can still be used.
In the Developer Q&A, Ion Hazzikostas, the Game Director of World of Warcraft, explained exactly which skins can still be unlocked after Legion. Basically, all skins that can be unlocked through regular quests are still available – that is, the “upgraded” weapons at the end of the Order campaign, the Hidden weapon skins, and the PvP skins, but also the skins at the end of the long raid quest line can still be unlocked retroactively.
Mage Tower and “Mythic+15” Skins Available Only Temporarily
There are only 2 exceptions for which you currently need “skill”:
- The templates from the Mage Tower Challenges at the Broken Shore
- The templates for completing a “Mythic +15” dungeon
So if you want to unlock as many skins for the Artifact weapons as possible, you should start planning your upcoming months. Because doing this for all 12 classes for all 36 Artifact weapons is bound to take some weeks.
