In the upcoming patch of World of Warcraft, players will encounter a repeatedly escaped villain. Priscilla Ashenwind is back.
Lady Ashenwind is a well-known character, especially for Alliance players, as she was one of the primary antagonists in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. However, Horde players might have encountered her too, as she was briefly allied with the Horde or at least pretended to be.
She reappears in the upcoming patch – or rather disappears. Because we meet her in Nazjatar, one of the two new zones of Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara.
Who is Lady Ashenwind? Priscilla Ashenwind was one of the leaders of the great houses of Kul Tiras. She early on made deals with pirates to overthrow House Prachtmeer and gain control over Kul Tiras herself. For this, she even equipped the pirates with Azerite weapons and later made a deal with the Horde.
However, she was exposed at the end of the campaign and imprisoned, later rescued by the Horde. Now she has apparently joined Azshara or has served her for a long time.
What happens to Lady Ashenwind? In Patch 8.2, we encounter Lady Ashenwind in the new raid “Eternal Palace.” She helps Azshara maintain a barrier. After we disable the barriers, she begs Azshara for help. This small dialogue is played:
Ashenwind: “We had an agreement, Azshara! Give me the power you promised me!”
Azshara: “Oh, I intend to. I just wanted to ensure that our guests can witness your glorious rise.”
Ashenwind: “No! Not like this! What are you doing to me?”
Azshara: “You wanted to be powerful, Priscilla. Consider our deal done.”
The colleagues from wowhead have also packaged this into a corresponding video:
It ends with Lady Ashenwind being transformed into a sea monster – a sea giant. She subsequently becomes a boss in the raid that must be defeated to progress further into the palace. The good lady might have envisioned this differently.
This seems to mark the end of Lady Ashenwind’s story. After all, this is the first time she is truly defeated.
What do you think of Lady Ashenwind’s transformation and her “rise” to a new form? Do you think it’s good that this character finds an end so soon? Or was she an interesting villain that could have been used further?
