In World of Warcraft: The War Within the auction house is currently struggling. The performance has been poor for days, taking ages to trade items. Blizzard is working on it but is not communicating well enough about what phase it is in.
Update from August 30, 2024 – 2:54 PM: We can access the WoW auction house again with our characters after a few minutes. Let’s get those items!
What is wrong with the WoW auction house? The virtual marketplace of Azeroth, where players can buy and sell countless items, has been struggling for several days. In the official World of Warcraft forum, for instance, one affected player reported that it sometimes takes 30 minutes to purchase their desired item (via eu.forums.blizzard.com).
How is Blizzard responding to the issue? In a forum post on us.forums.blizzard.com, Community Manager Kaivax explained a few hours ago:
“We are aware of the issues affecting the performance of the auction house in WoW and are working to diagnose and resolve them. Currently, the auction house is operational, but the response times are hindered. We will inform you as soon as we have new information on the situation. Thank you!”
WoW has often faced problems:
Operational? Not at all!
What is the current status? Even though Kaivax’s statement suggests otherwise, the auction house – at least on the servers we could check – is “currently closed. Please try again later.”
It is unclear how long the auction house will remain inaccessible. We are keeping an eye on the official forums and various X-channels from Blizzard for you and will update this message as soon as we know more.
