The Kirin Tor Micro-Holiday has been canceled. The reason for this is a bug in World of Warcraft that went unnoticed during the testing phase.
January 31st is actually a very special day in World of Warcraft – at least since patch 7.1.5. Today, the mages of the Kirin Tor should have been able to take a day off from the threat of demons while emptying mugs full of beer, mead, and wine in the various taverns of Azeroth. Every few minutes, one of the mages would open a portal and move the party to the next inn (very useful to never have to pay the bill).
However, nothing came of it. Anyone logging into World of Warcraft today and opening the calendar will find that the event has simply disappeared. The reason for this is a bug in the game that was only noticed at the last minute and could have caused major issues.
In the official forum, Community Manager Lore spoke up and explained:
“The ‘Kirin Tor Tavern Crawl’ micro-holiday is experiencing some issues that did not occur during the PTR testing phase, and we were unable to fix them with a hotfix. Therefore, we had to disable the event. We apologize for the inconvenience!”
Cortyn says: An annoying and somewhat embarrassing situation for Blizzard. In my friend circle, we were particularly looking forward to this holiday because it was so wonderfully absurd. We could easily imagine the elite mages of the Kirin Tor taking a day off and getting completely drunk – something we would have liked to join in on. Hopefully, the event will be rescheduled and won’t take place only next year…
We have listed the dates of the other micro-holidays here for you.
