The transmog system in World of Warcraft is being revised again. Costs are decreasing and there are many more options.
For some, it is a completely boring feature, for others, it is the true endgame of World of Warcraft: transmog. Collecting the various outfits and equipping one’s character can take many hours or days. Accordingly, an important part of the community values the major overhaul of the system in Midnight. After initial, devastating criticism, Blizzard quickly backtracked and corrected mistakes. Now the developers are even going further and drastically reducing prices.
What was the criticism? When the new transmog system was introduced in the beta of Midnight, there was a lot of criticism. Because saving a new set – that is, transmogging the entire character – cost around 6,000 gold. Also, unlocking new outfit slots was quite expensive. A hefty 800,000 gold had to be paid to unlock all 20 slots, on each character individually.
Shortly thereafter, Blizzard announced that the slot unlocking would apply to the entire account.
30 new slots, up to 80% lower costs
What will be changed? In a forum post, Blizzard has now extensively commented on the entire transmog topic. New changes were discussed that should satisfy almost all fans. From now on:
- The number of unlockable outfit slots will be increased from 20 to 50. You can store many more sets than before.
- The cost of unlocking outfit slots will decrease by 80%. Instead of 800,000 gold, you will now need to pay just around 160,000 gold for the first 20 slots.
- The cost of saving a complete set – that is, a whole transmog – will decrease by 60%. This corresponds to a reduction from nearly 6,000 gold to around 2,400 gold. Thus, transmogging a whole set is still more expensive than currently, but fits well into the new system, where you save a lot.
What do the changes mean? The innovations will make transmog significantly cheaper in the future and allow much more individual customization than before. Besides the numerous permanently stored sets that can be switched to for free after setup, there is also a new system where conditions can be set for when to automatically switch to a new set.
So it will be significantly cheaper to wear the stylish chain bikinis in the future…
