The artifact cloak in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria has been changed. Previously, it had a limit – the new one is virtually unreachable.
In World of Warcraft Remix, you will find not only bronze to buy cosmetic items, but also threads that continuously improve your artifact cloak. This allows you to become not just strong, but downright overpowered.
The promise was that there is virtually unlimited growth within this game mode. However, this was not correct – as the cloak had an upper limit. Blizzard has now torn down this limit and taken the previous value times 50.
What has changed? Although the cloak already had almost endless potential, there was still an upper limit for most values. Previously, each value of the cloak could only be increased to 200,000.
Blizzard has now significantly raised this limit for all values – to a proud 10,000,000 per attribute.
Thus, you can accumulate ten million primary attributes, stamina, haste, mastery, critical strike, speed, life steal, or versatility, which you receive through threads.
This corresponds to an increase in the maximum by a factor of 50.
Is this sensible? Yes and no. Some attributes, such as stamina, have benefits up to infinity. With increasing stamina, you gain more health points, endure longer in battles, or increase the damage of effects that are based on your maximum HP.
However, most values in World of Warcraft have a clearly defined limit up to which they are useful.
An example is speed. This value increases the movement speed of your character. However, this limit is at 49% increased movement speed. You can still accumulate more of the “speed” value, but you will not get faster than 49% through this attribute (the 49% stacks with talents or other effects).
It is even more evident with the value “critical hit.” Once this reaches 100%, your attacks will hit critically – every time. Unless you draw an additional bonus from critical hits (for example, through talents), every point over 100% is wasted.
Other attributes also have a clear upper limit. For a weapon warrior, for example, the maximum of mastery is 147.4%. This value varies with each specialization.
What does that mean? Effectively, this means that you will receive – in the long run – less meaningful upgrades for your cloak.
If your mastery is already at 9,000 points, the maximum has been reached, but you can still find threads to increase mastery on your cloak, then this is basically a “useless” value that does not provide any benefit. Thus, it will increasingly happen that you find threads that no longer have any effect.
However, it will likely take a while for most “normal” players to reach that point. And by then, you will probably be so powerful that you can complete most raids solo.
