Another PvP season ends in WoW – will the next patch 7.2 be released just a few weeks after the season ends?
While many players have just recently accessed the final wing of the Night Hold, which just opened in LFR a few weeks ago, part of the community is already pushing for fresh content in World of Warcraft. This is not surprising, as the PTR for patch 7.2 “The Tomb of Sargeras” has been in testing for a while now.
Blizzard has already announced that almost all features of the patch are finished and now it is just about fine-tuning.
Now there has been another announcement from Blizzard suggesting a release of patch 7.2.
The current PvP season, Legion Season 2, is approaching its end. In the official forum, players have already been “warned” that the season will end soon and players are advised not to perform character transfers if they are qualified for certain titles (like “Gladiator”).
An exact date for the end of the season has not been announced yet, but players should be warned in advance. With the end of Season 2 and the start of Season 3, PvPers can, by the way, reach the prestige rank up to 13 times to earn new rewards.
But does this necessarily mean that patch 7.2 will be released soon?
There are actually a few arguments against a soon release.
- Usually, there is a “pre-download” a few weeks before the release, where players can pull most of the data of the upcoming update. This has not started yet.
- Moreover, Blizzard had announced before the release of Legion that the PvP seasons would be shorter and would not necessarily be tied to the release of a new patch.
Concrete indications are still pending. It remains to be seen when the next PTR version will be marked as “release candidate” – this is generally seen as a sure sign of an upcoming release.
