The toughest battle in World of Warcraft requires good equipment – only a priest proves that this is nonsense.
If you want a real challenge in World of Warcraft right now, you face the Depths boss. Zekvir on the “??” difficulty offers a reward and an exclusive mount design, but is quite tough for most classes. To defeat him, you need good equipment, a decent amount of skill, patience, and quick reflexes.
But the whole equipment thing might just be a myth. Because one priest now shows how you can defeat Zekvir even with really shabby equipment – at item level 569.
What happened? In the WoW subreddit, Hurry_Willing posts that he succeeded in defeating Zekvir on the “??” difficulty – and that with an item level of only 569. A large part of the community couldn’t believe it, especially because questions arose like: “Hey, I have the super cool skin for the mount – but where do I actually get the basic version of the mount?”
This seemed like a troll attempt to many.
But now this shadow priest has debunked all lies and shown: Yes, Zekvir can be defeated at item level 569. Even though the fight took a solid 18 minutes.
How did the priest do it? Basically, Hurry_Willing played the fight almost flawlessly. All mechanics were handled correctly, so Zekvir almost never got a hit with his instant kills and could not restore any health.
It is curious that the shadow priest was able to kill the “nets” before they could hatch. Because these nets actually have 20 million health points. However, they seem to scale with the equipment, so Hurry_Willing only had to deal just under 8 million health points of damage. That’s still quite a lot – especially for the equipment – but it was mostly enough.
Combined with some priest tricks, such as using Fear on Brann to prevent him from leaving the room or using Mind Control on one of the adds, the kill succeeds after more than a quarter of an hour.
This is how the community reacts: Under the post with the proof video, many are extremely impressed by the performance and note that many players would not succeed even at item level 620. Some of the comments in the WoW subreddit:

Zekvir is essentially a fight that is only partially determined by your equipment. It is much more important to understand the mechanics and play perfectly. Small mistakes are usually punished with death immediately. To go through this entire fight for a solid 18 minutes without major mistakes and to use the entire toolkit of the class is quite impressive.
