Slowly but surely, the characters in WoW Legion Remix are becoming too powerful. So powerful that Blizzard has to change a boss.
It is a somewhat absurd, almost contradictory situation in World of Warcraft. However, the power increase of the characters has become so drastic that a boss can almost no longer be defeated. Therefore, Blizzard had to intervene and adjust this boss in the Emerald Nightmare so that it no longer causes frustration and annoyance.
What is the problem? More and more characters in WoW Legion Remix are becoming completely overpowered – this is indeed intended. However, with the boss Il’gynoth, Heart of Corruption, this is a problem. Because a core mechanic of the fight consists of defeating the “Eye” that blocks the entrance to the heart of the boss.
The Eye, however, takes drastically reduced damage (99% less), so it cannot be killed in a conventional way. The mechanic of the fight now consists of luring “Nightmare Secrets” to this Eye and defeating them there. The secrets explode at the end of their lifespan, causing high damage to the Eye that penetrates its damage reduction.
The problem was that the Nightmare Secrets have so few hit points that basically a single ability can already kill them – immediately after they appear. Thus, there was no time to lure the secrets to the Eye.
However, the premature killing is often not intentional. Many passive effects of the classes, which randomly hit nearby targets, could already cause a secret to explode prematurely. Especially overpowered characters that have already reached artifact level 999 cause problems here.

A nerf makes the enemies immune until they are properly positioned
How did Blizzard fix this? Blizzard has now changed how the secrets explode with a hotfix. You can still damage them down to 1 hit point, which normally triggers the explosion. However, their explosion is delayed and only activated when the secret is in the Eye’s range. It is therefore nearly impossible to kill the secrets prematurely.
This simplifies the fight considerably and drastically reduces the time needed to defeat Il’gynoth at all difficulties.
What else has changed? Apart from the changes to Il’gynoth, the update brought a few other improvements and bug fixes. The most important new features include:
- “Eye of Greed” is no longer permanently trapped in the sky and can be freed by player characters.
- “Fragmented Remembrance of Epoch Challenges” is now sent by the mailman to player characters if they haven’t looted the items.
- Effects caused by affixes no longer appear twice as often as planned in the “Soul Abyss”.
- Cancelling the Legion intro quest chain no longer blocks progress in the Order Hall campaign.
You can read the full patch notes on the official WoW page.
The hotfix comes just before the start of the second phase of WoW Legion Remix. Tomorrow, the new content will be unlocked, and the Suramar campaign will reach its climax. There will also be new rewards to earn. Until then, you can still earn portals that can be used by your entire account – forever.
