The former Classic server Nostalrius team meets with the creators of World of Warcraft.
Discussions on Legacy Servers Begin Next Month
After Blizzard shut down the illegal classic World of Warcraft server Nostalrius a few weeks ago, there was a great outcry from the server’s community. A petition was quickly launched to urge Blizzard to officially offer real “Legacy” servers to provide a home for the fans of the original WoW. To discuss this matter further, Blizzard has invited the former operator team of Nostalrius to Irvine.
In the Nostalrius forum it says:
“As we announced previously, we are in contact with Blizzard. We are pleased to announce that a date for the meeting has been set. It will take place in early June at Blizzard’s headquarters in Irvine. For security reasons, we will not specify an exact date, but expect a report a few days after the meeting.”
Also Mark Kern, the former “head” of World of Warcraft, who took the side of the fans of the classic servers throughout the issue, has now received an appointment.
“I have my meeting regarding the Legacy servers with Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime next Thursday. Blizzard has agreed to accept the expression of the petition. While this is not a guarantee for a Legacy server, them listening is at least a very good sign.”
Previously, Kern had already released his own video and wrote this as an “open letter” to Blizzard, where he showed the expression of the petition – with more than 10,000 pages full of signatures, ideas, suggestions, and wishes from fans longing for a “classic” experience of the MMORPG.
