The last wing of the Nighthold in World of Warcraft is open. Now Gul’dan is also going to face justice in LFR!
With the end of today’s maintenance (03/08/2017), the last wing of the current raid instances “Nighthold” is finally available for the Looking For Raid. Those who have not yet experienced the showdown with Gul’dan due to lack of a raid guild now have the opportunity to send the nasty Orc from an alternate timeline to the ground once and for all.
The fight itself against Gul’dan is – as usual in LFR – not particularly challenging, but there are a few little things to keep in mind to avoid being the “quota loser” who lies in the dirt due to the abilities of the Fel Orc.
- In the first phase, Gul’dan summons three demons to his side and becomes untouchable himself. Focus on the Inquisitor first and avoid all green effects. You can use the Eye of Aman’thul (an extra button) to strengthen yourself temporarily.

- In the second phase, you go against Gul’dan himself. Here, you need to react quickly to the appearance of adds, as the Eyes of the Legion will split after a short time. The split eyes will split again and so on – those who completely ignore them will quickly be overwhelmed. At the same time, Gul’dan will place burning chains on individual players. Move out of this effect only when at least 2 other players are with you, as damage occurs when the chains are “broken”, which is then distributed among all players in the vicinity.
- In the third and final phase, Gul’dan gains new abilities. Occasionally, he will cast large, black areas around him (Storm of the Destroyer), which swell with each cast. Take to your heels and just run away from him until he is finished. Eyes will still appear and must be defeated.
Otherwise, there is hardly anything to consider. Beat up the Orc and enjoy the first-class cinematic that you will be rewarded with.
Don’t feel like defeating Gul’dan just for the cinematic? No problem, the video has been circulating on the internet for quite a while. Obviously, there are spoilers:
Blizzard is currently considering raid servers for professional guilds to create fair conditions.
