Blizzard has introduced Patch 10.1.5 for World of Warcraft. It contains a spicy detail – as all races can soon become Warlocks.
Patch 10.1 Glut von Neltharion has been live for just a few days, but Blizzard is already pushing Patch 10.1.5 to the PTR. Besides some major announcements like a Mega-Dungeon with Galakrond, there are also some new information for Warlock fans:
All races (except for the Dracthyr) will be able to become Warlocks in the future. Yes, this includes Night Elves, Draenei, and Lightforged Draenei.
Which races can become Warlocks? A whole range of new races can decide to let themselves be guided by demonic magic and summon all sorts of demons from the Nether. Warlocks will then be:
- Night Elves
- Draenei
- Lightforged Draenei
- Pandaren
- Kul Tiran
- Tauren
- Highmountain Tauren
- Mag’har Orcs
- Zandalari Trolls
The only exception here are still the Dracthyr. This race remains restricted to the Evokers and that will probably stay that way for a while.
How the community reacts: The announcement of Warlocks for all races divides the community. While many look forward to playing a Draenei or a Tauren Warlock, there is also criticism and doubt.
Some are already grinding their teeth over Night Elves, but the real trouble comes from the “Lightforged Draenei”. Due to their origin story, they should actually not be able to become Warlocks at all – unless they break with everything their people stand for and rebel against their own Lightforging.
When is it coming? There is still no release date for Patch 10.1.5. However, if Blizzard sticks to its previous release intervals for patches, it could be at the end of June or the beginning of July.

Otherwise, the new gearing system is still under discussion – it is brilliant but complicated.
