Raiding in WoW is so easy, it can be done without gear! At least that’s what a guild thought and proved it shortly in the Nightmare.
Raids in World of Warcraft are among the most challenging content that the MMORPG from Blizzard has to offer. Almost always, a coordinated group and a certain gear level are needed to stand up to the strongest foes of Azeroth.
As Buffed reports, the German guild Chaosengel decided to defeat the bosses of the Emerald Nightmare in a very special way: naked. Naked in this case means just the artifact weapon and all equipment pieces that are not visible on the character – that is, rings, trinkets, and chains.
Already on the first evening, Chaosengel could celebrate a success, as the corrupted dragon lady Nythendra could not withstand the siege of the scantily clad Alliance players for long. In a nearly 9-minute fight, which especially taxed the mana of the healers, the guild managed to defeat Nythendra just before reaching the “enrage timer”.
The kill was achieved on the “Normal” difficulty level.
Cortyn says: Even though the fun of this action was clearly the focus and I don’t like to downplay achievements, I am not particularly impressed by this kill. The artifact weapon alone accounts for nearly 30% of the character stats, and Nythendra is a fight where almost nobody takes damage if the mechanics are observed. This diminishes the achievement a bit in my view, but perhaps the guild will add more later.
In any case, a nice idea that shows: Gear is not always everything and fun should come first. A few people in the group search, who already demand item level 890 for “Mythic +2”, could take a page from this.
For the future, Blizzard is considering separate raid servers for professionals.
