Tanks in World of Warcraft have it a bit easier now. The challenge of the Mage Tower “Return of the Highlord” has been significantly nerfed.
Without exaggeration, it can be said that the Mage Tower challenges from the Broken Shore are among the most difficult content in World of Warcraft that solo players have ever experienced. Only a fraction of all players have managed to complete the respective challenge so far. Especially the challenge for Tanks, “Return of the Highlord,” has proven to be particularly tough, and particularly Blood Death Knights are struggling with it.
The reward is a noble appearance variant for your artifact weapon, which only a few players have managed to obtain so far.

Blizzard has now also realized that the challenge for Tanks was overall harder than intended, and has implemented a hotfix that brings the following changes.
- Highlord Kruul and Inquisitor Variss now have 10% less health.
- Kor’vas Bloodthorn now has 100% more health.
- Netherscreams and Tormented Eyes now have 20% less health.
- Smoldering Hellbeasts will now be summoned less frequently.
Overall, these changes make the challenge easier, but it can still not be described as “easy” yet.
Further changes from the hotfix on April 19
Additionally, the hotfix has fixed several small bugs.
- The first beacons of the Sentinax now last 10 seconds longer and excess beacons can now be sold to vendors.
- The initiator of the Sentinels has now learned to fly and uses his abilities more often.
- Last but not least, some flight paths have been improved that previously took unusually long detours.
The hotfix has already been implemented in America yesterday (April 19, 2017). In Europe, it is likely to be deployed to the servers tonight (April 20, 2017) as well.
